    RPG Factions

If you like factions and character interactions with them, 13th AGE, is the game for that. The system of character creation and setting building is design to foster that. The 2e is not out yet but the books have been printed...

D&D General Tales from Woodcreek Session 0

We watched session 1 tonight and we really enjoy it. The 1-hour length is perfect. The format fs mixing actual locations with regular RPG dice rolling and role-playing is entertaining. Deborah is a great DM and all the players are really into it. It was great seeing Iman Vellani (Ms Marvel)...

    Trailer Stranger Things 5

Movie actors don't rehearse prior. They learn their lines the evening before the shoot and they do takes in situ, in the moment. The text can change the morning after (like Boromir at the Council of Elrond). Sean Bean had to read new text tapped to his knee. Sometimes, they don't even see each...

Shovel, traction aids, bag of salt in the trunk. Telescopic snow brush on the back seat. The scraper in the storage between the front seats, because sometimes it's so cold and humid, you have to scrap the inside of the windshield.

Daggerheart Releases Bloodhunter Class for Playtesting

Not liking a mechanic, doesn't make it bad. Some players enjoy it, others don't. It's a question of style of play preference.

Daggerheart Releases Bloodhunter Class for Playtesting

Some people should definitely play more RPGs. In some very popular RPGs wizards must spend HPs (blood) to cast spells. It's a common mechanic. You can also watch Chinese Ghost Stories (1987) to see it in Pulp action:

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Thinking you get to decide how a discussion evolves in a thread because you started it... that's not how it works. You may not like the answer but if it doesn't derail the thread in question, it's a valid reply. Other members (lurkers) are reading it and may find it useful. It's not all about you.

D&D General WotC is at it again

Fair. Not sure how to phrase it but I’m from french Quebec, so I’m not 100% connected to the Anglo-Saxon cultural sphere. I may or may have not heard about these at the time. But it’s likely.

    Trailer Stranger Things 5

A 60 year old grown man bought a 'HellFire Club' t-shirt at Joe Fresh, for tomorrow night. He'll be proudly wearing it, as if he is 15 again. ;)

    Contemporary Simulationist TTRPGs [+]

Interesting, is it a modern game or an OSR reiteration of old D&D?

    Contemporary Simulationist TTRPGs [+]

My list for a new simulationist contemporary Fantasy RPG of 10 years or less. All these points should be ideally in the core rules, not in the optional rules. Does it exist? Combat Pillar: Permanent combat injury, maiming Fatal blows Unarmed combat Simultaneous combat attacks and parry Combat...

    Contemporary Simulationist TTRPGs [+]

For me, a decade would make it a Modern game (5e), not Contemporary (as in current times, in the now almost) and not an Old game (more than 10 years. 4e, 3e). TSR D&D is an Ancient game, in RPG parlance. I know it hurts to think in those terms even if to us it doesn't seem like that far back.

The Pioneer RPG Kickstarter is Now Live!

Very interesting. $93 Canadian for a 200 pages pdf is too expensive. I'll wait, maybe one of the local stores will have it in stock, eventually.

D&D General WotC is at it again

TV Trope says this: The Trope Namer and Trope Codifier is Nentir Vale, the official default setting of the 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons. "Points of Light" was an unofficial nickname for the setting used during development before it was given an official name. Later, it caught on in writing...

[Apple+] Slow Horses TV Series (Spoilers)

Great ending to season 5. First Desk vs Lamb. Checkmate! I find the format of six episodes very satisfying. They are really well crafted with no down time. Very efficient formula. Slow Horses is like a dysfunctional Foster Care family. Lamb is the alcoholic father figure who doesn't care 90%...
