Absolutely, and the actions of GG are on a completely different point on the badness scale, but most people pretty much need computers, smartphones, energy and the like. Still, a lot of people are willing to spend more to get these things from a more ethical source.
GG offers a RPG product...
Well, the book starts with a simple adventure and teaches how to run it. It continues with the basics of running dungeons, and after that provides several tools for more specialized adventure types. You don't need to read the book front to back. In fact, i think it is specifically designed to be...
Absolutely! Those are awesome and a solid way to get someone to start dming. I recommended the first 5 videos to two people, and both had their first session shortly after.
So You Want to Be a Game Master is the single best book that includes everything you need, imho. I wish I had it when I...
Can't say I disagree with any of this, but the point still stands that there must be a reason for JG to agree to the project, as they hold the license, as I understand it. I try really hard not to judge the character of a person I have never met, but I have a hard time imagining an altruistic...
Sure, there are exceptions. But I do not think GG is a non-profit, and I doubt the main focus is education or healing.
Maybe the TTRPG industry is not the best way to make money, but it is a way to do so for some.
I guess my point is, I think neither GG nor JG started this project out of their...
You do not have to pivot to the complete opposite market. It may be enough to shift a little bit, lose some of the old customers, and gain some new ones. Maybe you do not even need to gain new customers, if you do not have a current alternative that makes you the equivalent amount of money...
As I see it, GG is a business. The goal of a business is to make money.
If appealing to certain ideals makes money, a business will want to do that. If there is more money in ignoring these ideals later, they will be ignored.
It takes some thick moral backbone to stand firm and let the money...
Finally found the time to watch it, was really interesting and entertaining to watch.
The insight into how they got started, while anecdotal, was especially good.
Absolutely. At the arcane library, you can download the quickstart rules or something like that for free. They will get you to 3rd lvl, if memory serves.
Well, if the backers get the refunds from JG if they ask, and now they get the refunds from GG if they ask, my initial question still stands. How is that not money saved by JG?
If backers don't get refunds from JG, its all clear. But what I read from comments in the other thread, they do.
But I...
Thanks for the replies!
But wasn't it stated in the other thread that you could ask JG for a refund and you would get it?
Because it reads to me like GG has no info about the backers from the old KS, so you have to contact them. So I guess I am still a little confused.
What I don't get:
If JG had to pay reimbursements, and now GG is paying the reimbursements (at least in parts), how does JG not profit from that? It's less money they have to pay.
Maybe I am a little slow right now, can somebody explain it in easy terms?
Hopefully, the net winners will be the...
On the grand scheme of things, hard to say. But for me, absolutely right. the game went in a direction I have no interest in, which is totally fine. I think, though, if they went further than the little step, at least something interesting would have come from it. As it stands, to me it's...
5e and the other, newer 5e. Don't worry about it, I tell you what to roll in any case. Yes, that is a 20 sided die. Did you add your profency bonus? Yes, now the six sided die. The normal one, yes that one! Now add your strength mod...
