What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

I wouldn’t call that railroading, IMO.

A lot more threads about 6e and the state of WotC. Like, a lot a lot.

We All Won – The OGL Three Years Later

Thank you for the overview! I remember some of these details like the revenue cut but not all of them. There’s definitely a difference between whether I feel like we as a community of fans won versus how third party publishers may feel, and I think they’re the ones who matter the most. They have...

We All Won – The OGL Three Years Later

I would say that is an active threat particularly if you have to potentially sue, at which point you’re in jeopardy of simply being out-lawyered money wise.

We All Won – The OGL Three Years Later

Question from someone not incredibly knowledgeable about the differences between the various licenses: When WotC proposed the original version of the OGL that started the uproar three years ago, did it actively threaten the ability of ENWorld Publishing, Draw Steel, Kobold Press, Darrington...

D&D General Former Head of D&D Says Vecna: Eve of Ruin Was Not Going To Feature Obelisk Plot

I hardly think he was responsible for making the call on the direction of that book. Who knows? Maybe that wanted a do over!? 😂

D&D General Former Head of D&D Says Vecna: Eve of Ruin Was Not Going To Feature Obelisk Plot

The Polygon article itself said that when Perkins said “they lost the plot”, he was referring primarily to the obelisk storyline. What I’m getting from this is despite having something in mind for Eve of Ruin, Perkins left his design role well before the project was officially started and the...

We All Won – The OGL Three Years Later

Relatively, yes. That’s how much bigger they are now. I’m guessing they are much more concerned with how their brand is perceived by the greater community which is why I think things like Critical Role, Stranger Things, Baldur’s Gate 3, and their forays into movies and streaming matter more to them.

D&D General Former Head of D&D Says Vecna: Eve of Ruin Was Not Going To Feature Obelisk Plot

Sure sounds like folks want to wash their hands of this one, though in all honesty, it sounds a lot closer to what Winninger proposed than not. Perkins wanted to go back to Netheril. Winninger wanted to go back to Castle Greyhawk. There were lots of cameos in the end result. I have a hard time...

What's the hardest attribute to effectively role-play?

“No, I buy the more expensive iron rations - less carbs, more protein” “Doing wind sprints in chainmail is a total body workout - you should really stop reading that spell book and strap on some armor; it’ll do wonders for your Con.”

I guess I have to reassess the definition of twee because Mr and Mrs Smith didn’t seem anything like it.

What's the hardest attribute to effectively role-play?

In all honesty, Con/Dex/Str, probably in that order, largely because they are physical attributes. They don’t really say anything about the character from a roleplay standpoint. Sure, mechanically they’re easy, but so is any stat. We can think of what it means to be intelligent, or charismatic...

We All Won – The OGL Three Years Later

I don’t know - I just feel the premise is in conflict with itself. If companies are rushing to D&DBeyond at their peril - is that not framed as bad? If most players only care about D&D and don’t care at all about the OGL or 3PP, is that not bad? I think framing this as someone “winning” is just...

We All Won – The OGL Three Years Later

I’m confused by this point. Are people here for D&D specifically (in which case, aware or not, they are there for the brand) or are they calling it D&D in an eponymous way for any TTRPG: the way we called any photocopying to be Xeroxing.

Okay sorry, I missed that point amongst the rest. While you think it doesn’t negate the CEO is overlooking the in person aspect, neither do I think it proves it.
