D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

I was assuming points buy where you allocate 15 in dex and mind stat sorry

    D&D (2024) Abusing True Strike 2024

Outdamages normal ranged build past lvl 5 because of the bonus damage from the cantrip and gives some customization of skills you wouldnt think about normally, but you're right

Don't worry there is a 200 reply thread arguing whether or not this is legal...

    D&D (2024) Abusing True Strike 2024

If you're using True Strike, a Light Crossbow (1d8) seem to be better than Hand Crossbows because you can't do the bonus action attack when using a cantrip. Off turn attack shenanigans don't worry about Loading either so it's fine. For level 1-4 characters, however, the maximum damage a ranged...

    D&D (2024) Abusing True Strike 2024

While not optimal at all, I find the idea of a party face swashbuckling type Rogue using True Strike with Charisma to be fun. The creativity the spell offers is nice

D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

I agree, just generally if one is making a rogue build centered around True Strike they will prioritize the spellcasting modifier used, otherwise there is not much point in taking it. That said, I can see many optimizers choosing High Elf or Human so they can get +2 Int +1 Dex and True Strike on...

D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying If you are making a True Strike build generally you get to 20 int/whatever as soon as possible Then you would focus on maxing dexterity for AC It is harder to do this with sage because you cannot start with 16 in dexterity That is all I meant

D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

There is no accuracy loss in using True Strike versus a normal ranged weapon

D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

Rogues don’t have many options for extra damage, True Strike adds additional d6 as you level up, and accuracy for True Strike builds are the same as ranged builds if you spec into them while sacrificing some AC in exchange for damage Melee build is better with only Dex

D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

Just adding that Elves can choose their spell casting stat so it is still a decently versatile option Elven Lineage: Choose a lineage from the Elven Lineages table below. You gain the level 1 benefit of that lineage and when you reach character levels 3 and 5, you learn a higher-level spell...

D&D (2024) Scoring abilities of 2024 Species (and looking back to MotM)

Rogues generally still prefer to have higher DEX than CON for AC and stealth checks, especially if they are already splitting it with INT/WIS as their main attacking stat However you can also get True Strike from High Elf

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

What is the mechanical difference between a spell scroll and wand of magic missiles in your interpretation?

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

Scrolls can allow the player to cast spells they do not know, it is not just a buff, also casting spells have an assigned action; the Magic action.

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

Wand of the War Mage is a constantly active buff the player receives while it is equipped, same as the Bracers of Archery, it is not an item you utilize

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

There are not 3 types of Magic actions, and I do not understand why you keep mentioning this. There is an action called the Magic action that has multiple triggers. The predominate one is casting a spell. Each turn you spend casting a spell is also considered the Magic action. Using a magic item...

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

The spell is scribed into the scroll, it is essentially a wand of magic missiles with only 1 charge

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

You are correct the main overpowered aspect of this is 17 wizard/3 rogue or other full caster equivalents I think it is reasonable to not allow this at a table
  18. S

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

There is no action built into the wand they work the same way Bracers of Archery work, there is an inherent magic action associated with the scribed spell if it is 1 action long that occurs when it is used
  19. S

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

You cannot use a spell scroll without a magic action, it is an item that requires you to use a magic action which it casts a spell and causes it to disappear, this is not the same thing as “modifying” a spell if it can cast spells you cannot even cast There is no action involved with a wand, it...

    D&D (2024) Thief Rogue / True Strike

The Magic Action involved is the act of casting a spell that is allowed by using a spell scroll. If you were not using a spell scroll it would cost material components, a spell slot, or it could even be impossible because you do not know the spell but it is in your class list. The Wand of War...
