Are ranged rangers better than melee ones?

The -2 skill check and lack of Dex means you lose the ability to sneak around, but yeah, plate armored dual wielding rangers sound fun. With so much armor you probably don't care who notices you.

Are ranged rangers better than melee ones?

I don't think you ever use wisdom to actually hit anything though, nor are any of the powers that use wisdom affected by having a mediocre wisdom score. Fox's Cunning IMO loses to Evasive Strike as a level 1 choice, and evasive strike allows you to shift 1 already. If you have a Wis 12, you can...

    Hovering Dragons with Reach

Dragons always assume they are superior, even to other dragons. So the odds of them learning a lesson from another is dubious. Those that do are probably the dangerous things flying around.

    TWF ranger weapon choices

I didn't notice that bastard swords had +3 proficiency. That'd certainly make up for the high crit, considering how hard it is to get attack bonuses from feats. I'd say that for a pure melee ranger, bastard swords definitely seem the way to go.

    TWF ranger weapon choices

Scimitar I'd say is a good choice. High crit is great, especially since you will be making more attacks, meaning a higher chance of 19's and 20's cropping up. Bastard sword like Agrias says is also good, but the 1 feat at heroic tier is pretty costly, especially if you're not human and get an...

Should players know minions are minions from a rules/tactics PoV?

i had a friend once crit a zombie and decided the brutes were actually minions. So maybe keeping moments like that hush can be fun (except for the meleeing wizard that is).

Are ranged rangers better than melee ones?

Depending on the party, A melee ranger will often be the only one flanking an enemy with the defender to get CA, something that a ranged ranger cannot and probably shouldn't try to either. a +2 to hit is pretty big, especially in tandem with abilities like armor splinter. Even with 14 strength...

    Ranger/Rogue Paragon Advice

Revinor - Yes, I am aware that you can't sneak attack with a scimitar. It's one of the advantage in going that dagger master, with two attacks that have a crit range of 18-20. I'm mainly using scimitars as a starting weapon and using daggers to sneak attack with and act as my range weapon...

    Ranger/Rogue Paragon Advice

Currently I'm building a new character for an upcoming campaign. The idea is an elf melee ranger/rogue and I'm having trouble deciding between the shadow assassin (SA) and dagger master (DM) paragon path. SA has the riposte which meshes well with the high dex he will have (22 at lvl 11) and the...
