January Ampersand: Orcus Miniature! (or statue, if you will)

Hopefully the other two big baddies, Demogorgon & Lolth, will get the same treatment.

4e Races I'd love to see, but probably never will:

Marilith rangers with 6 scimitars (Drizzt x 3) & ambush vine shoots. In all seriousness, I hope they make a ruleset for slightly stronger than normal races such as cambions and mind flayers.

D&D Video Gaming News - Hasbro sues for breach of contact by Atari

Those games sold poorly because they were bad. I'll agree that turn-based rpgs aren't big sellers, but that's because there hasn't been a decent turn-based game in years. Final Fantasy Tactics is still, to this very day, playable and enjoyable. Furthermore, the game mechanic in FFT is...

D&D Video Gaming News - Hasbro sues for breach of contact by Atari

This is such a shame if it is in fact preventing the development of D&D computer games. I've been salivating at the thought of a 4E computer game since 4E's release. It would be so fun to customize a full party and take them from 1 to 30. I just can't stop thinking how amazing a turn-based...

    PHB3 Debut: Ardent Speculation

I will second (or is that thirty-second?) the sentiment that the name "Ardent" is just plain awful. It just lacks an aesthetic quality that a name such as "Mystic" would carry (plus, "Mystic" has the added advantage of being a noun). As silly as it sounds, I don't think I could ever play a...

The Plane Below - Secrets of the Elemental Chaos

What epic level solos are statted out?

    The Essentials articles are atrocious.

I have to agree with the sentiment of the original poster. While the powers of the Essentials articles have been much to my liking, the discussion of class features and ability score placement in these articles are borderline useless even for the greenest of players. For example, the "Wizard...

    What 4e does right

I love basically everything about 4E. Here are some highlights for me: - The classes are balanced quite nicely. - Combat is a team effort where everyone contributes. - I love the streamlined Cosmology. The whole Gods v. Primordial shtick just works for me. - Oh, and the Shaman class is amazing.

Too many paragon paths / epic destinies

Let me begin by saying that I really appreciate the changes to character advancement that 4E has made. I like how paragon paths and epic destinies give every character "prestige class" options. I also like how paragon and epic advancement help differentiate characters within a class. However, I...

    Primal Power Discussion

What are the names of the epic destinies and shaman paragon paths? I want to know if anything thematically matches up with the shaman I'm making.

On homogeneity, or how I finally got past the people talking past each other part

These criticisms of 4E are just baffling to me. I can only speak for myself, and I seem to have a minority opinion, but 4E actually brought my group back to the game. 3E rules were overly convoluted, grossly unbalanced, and borderline nonsensical. 4E made the game fun again. In 4E everyone is...

New D&D video game in the works. Its a MMO

If true, this is very discouraging news. Fourth edition lends itself perfectly to an epic, turn-based strategy game. I salivate just thinking about customizing my own party and taking them from 1 to 30. The more I think about a 4E MMO, the less I think it could work. Unless their approach is...

[Folks that like 4e] What are some things from previous editions that you miss?

Well, I don't miss much. Wizards has done a stellar job with 4E. The only thing I really miss is Planescape. For all its flaws, Planescape just did it for me. The thought of a 4E update for that setting with the improved 4E cosomology and ruleset makes me salivate. (Long live the Athar!)

    4e Change of mind

I had high hopes for 4E, and it delivered. I barely even played D&D before 4E, the game was simply too unwieldy. I have a huge Planescape collection I read for recreation, but never used in an actual game. I played a little 3E, but it just didn't click for my group. We're a group of smart...
