    Race Elimination Round 2!!

Voted Dragonborn, they just don't fit with the other PCs and totally seem like fan service for the kids who want to play as a dragon or something. The thing I liked about the previous editions was that from looking at some art, it was obvious who the heroes and who the bad guys are. With...

    Monte Carlo versus "The Math"

That's pretty cool! Ruby's a good choice for this. Interested in seeing the rest of the simulations!

    Monte Carlo versus "The Math"

A tool for 4e fight simulations and statistical experimentation would be pretty cool, although take note that if you try to simulate everything that can happen in a fight, your program would have an exponential asymptotic time complexity. Also, you'd have to implement the whole 4e rule system...

    D&D 4E Is there any D&D 4th computer game?

Good point. So yeah, I'd welcome any kind of D&D CRPG, whether it's turn-based or real time (although I'd prefer the former). Let's just hope someone makes it and that the game is good.

    D&D 4E Is there any D&D 4th computer game?

Here's the thing though, if you're making a real time combat game, why use the D&D ruleset at all, given that it's turn-based. Why not just some other combat system that's made for real time computer simulated combat instead of shoehorning a turn-based system into a real time one.

Improved Initiative is objectively better than Danger Sense

Ah, I didn't consider that you have to just beat the other guys, yeah. Great analysis! Very cool stuff.

    D&D 4E Is there any D&D 4th computer game?

What about powers that let you shift before or after an attack? Choosing which foe to mark with every attack? Stuff like that. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, I'm just saying that 4e is harder to translate to a semi real time format. But I'd love to see a game with 4e rules, true turn based...

    D&D 4E Is there any D&D 4th computer game?

Yeah, but they allowed you to play them as you would a real-time game, which I'd say is what most people did, because it was the default option. The turns were concurrent. I don't think that 4th edition would translate well to such a system because it depends heavily on the turns taking place...

    D&D 4E Is there any D&D 4th computer game?

I doubt there ever will be a (mainstream) 4th edition CRPG. Licensing costs for D&D are very expensive (I read that on some Bioware developer's blog) and turn-based games don't sell very well. I think it would be near impossible to make a 4th edition CRPG that isn't turn-based.

Improved Initiative is objectively better than Danger Sense

Yeah both together are pretty good though, then the average roll is about 17.8. What are some other ways to bump initiative and is it worth it? What if you're a rogue?

Improved Initiative is objectively better than Danger Sense

With Improved Initiative, your average initiative roll is 14.5 + DEX modifier + half level, whereas with Danger Sense, your average initiative roll is 13.8 + DEX modifier + half level. Pretty weak considering Danger Sense is a paragon tier feat, they should probably have been switched around...

Combat Challenge and weapons with Reach

Cool thing though, if you multiclass into Cleric and then take the Warpriest paragon path, you get Warpriest's Challenge at 16th level, which is kind of like Combat Challenge, only better, because you get to make an OA instead of a basic melee attack, so you get to add your WIS modifier. You...

Haha, I can't believe I missed that there. Thanks!

    Two questions.

Does a mark imply a -2 attack on attacks that don't include you? Like, do the Warden's marks give the marked targets a -2 to attacks? How about some of those Cleric encounter powers, which just say that a target is marked but they don't say what kind of effect that mark has.

Delaying, and effects that end on your enemy's turn

Ah, I see. Well, that's interesting then. I'd probably rule at as per the rules, I mean if you're blind in combat you probably wait until you can see and keep your wits sharp until then so you can act at once.

Delaying, and effects that end on your enemy's turn

Is there something I'm missing? Page 288 of the PHB states that if you delay, you end negative effects which last until the end of your next turn after you've acted.

D&D 5E What direction should 5th edition take?

This is a matter of opinion I guess; I wouldn't like it if such a system were in place. I can see a lot of people just giving four paragraph monologues for their melee basic attacks to get a good attack bonus on their next turn.

D&D 5E What direction should 5th edition take?

I think that this depends on the player and shouldn't be shoehorned into the rules. Instead of just saying "I'm using Positioning Strike", a good player will say something along the lines of "Seizing the opportunity, I grab onto the zombie and pull him to the side, stab him with my dagger...
