    D&D 5E Offensive touch spells

You can just cover the flame with a piece of your clothing. Seems fair. It's a 2nd level spell that costs 50gp per cast. See Invisibility is also a 2nd level spell.

D&D 5E Spells cast at higher level spell slots. Worth it?

Also consider that making it an attack roll ignores Magic Resistance, and allows you to get advantage on the roll. (Garnering advantage on attack rolls is much easier to get than imposing disadvantage on saving throws.) Basically, it's going to make it much more powerful.

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

Being unseen is no longer a precondition for stealth. PHB errata: The DM tells you when you can hide, and the DM tells you whether or not you need to roll Stealth. There's also no requirement to use the Hide Action.

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

I've seen so many of these Jeremy Crawford non-answers at this point, I'm convinced that he starts from the assumption that the book has no errors, and rationalizes around it.

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

No, the Combat rules offer the Hide Action as a way to get the benefits under "Unseen Attackers and Targets." Nowhere in the book is it written that masking your location requires the hide action. In fact, under Unseen Attackers and Targets, the book provides three distinct options for escaping...

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

The point being made is that being detected while invisible isn't automatic, it's at the DM's discretion. Since "usually" and "outside factors" are in the DM's purview and the extent of those will vary game to game, I think we're on the same page.

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

There are two options here, based on the two possible readings of "can be detected" in the invisibility rules. Option 1: "can be detected" means "is automatically detected", and the quoted part of Feral Senses does nothing. Option 2: "can be detected" means "is sometimes detected", and the...

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

If you're automatically aware of the locations of non-hidden creatures, even if they're invisible, what is the purpose of the following abilities?

    D&D 5E 5.0 necromancer

Yup. Somebody did the math in another thread and ended up with over 200 undead minions.

    D&D 4E Who's still playing 4E

I got started with D&D in earnest with 4e. The mechanics and combat were so much fun. Theorycrafting, optimizing, making characters on a lark. I loved it. But it's not 5e. Once 5e came out, I learned to love the more classic side of D&D in equal measure. It's such a wonderful system. Really, no...

    D&D 5E 5.0 necromancer

Animate Dead only animates 1-2 undead at a time, but recasting it lets you maintain control over up to 4 undead creatures, which determines your actual cap.

    D&D 4E 4e Combat Manager

This looks cool. My DM currently uses Masterplan to run encounters, are there differences/advantages to this approach?

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

I think this point is worth repeating. If you make the assumption that you and your allies are not meaningful threats, then all of your close and area attacks are party-friendly. That's a pretty big ramification.

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

Per the exact RAW of the Rules Compendium, you could make the argument that since Temple of Brilliance's Effect line does NOT affect the target (rather, it affects all enemies within 2 squares of the target), it is not "an effect that occurs upon hitting, missing, or otherwise affecting a...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

I never said it was intended by RAW to block effects on allies. I just said that a strict reading of that (poorly worded) paragraph results in that unfortunate fact. The second paragraph is inconsistent with the first, but not contradictory. The first paragraph effectively states that Healing...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

The exact quote is "when a power's effect involves a character's allies, use common sense when determining how many allies can be affected." That doesn't contradict the previous "meaningful threat" paragraph in any way, it just explains that party buffs don't affect your whole army (which is...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

Certainly you can target an ally and use the power, but by strict RAW, Healing Word "has an effect that occurs upon hitting, missing, or otherwise affecting a target," and as such, "the effect takes place only if the target is a meaningful threat," which you and your allies are not. You can use...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

There are some misconceptions here, so let's start with the comparison of the DMG bag of rats vs. the RC bag of rats. From the DMG: From the RC: By strict RAW of the RC ruling, healing powers such as Healing Word no longer function, because you and your allies aren't meaningful threats to...

    Bluff for CA

The Beguiler Path for Vampires has a level 11 feature that makes it a minor action. It will certainly be useful there, though as a standard action it's pretty useless.

Why CompoundWord Monsters Don't Bother Me

It's too descriptive--to the point of sounding somewhat cheesy--and yet simultaneously too generic, like calling a Rogue a "Dagger Fighter." I'm aware the name is from 3.5e, but it also breaks 4e's naming convention, which only uses single-word class names. "Sentinel" denotes a guard who...
