thanks hellhound.

Cheiromancer,

Good catch on stacking mastered empowered spells.

here is my suggested fix:

Make it only applicable to a spell once for each time you take the feat.

That way if you want a double empower for only a four level increase you must have taken four feats to do it. Since every extra empower helps, it can still be worth taking if you want to specialize in one type of damage dealing.

I would also recommend changing all the stackable mastered metamagics to be that way, otherwise mastered extended spells become infinite duration for no spell level increase.

Did it get pulled from RPGNow? I could have sworn I'd seen it on the main page but now the only way to find it is the link above. I also thought it had some comments but the comments are gone.

Yeap looks like the product is gone. Probably pulled by the folks at RPGNow. Good job!

I recognized some of the feats from Joe's book of enchantments. Some others I thought I saw on the Net Book of Feats. I never purchased Voadem's spell compendium, so I've never seen his supplement.

Am I to understand that there was no original content in Metamagical Theorems?

I don't recall all the feats from Joe's book of enchantments, but I do remember the one that makes charm type spells (not compulsions!) last indefinitely.

A lot of the above looks legal. Making compendiums of open content is both permited under the OGL and even worthwhile to the consumer. However, if I were going to purchase this book I'd like to be warned ahead of time that it's a compendium.

I'd imagine that some of the PDF publishers in the list might be a bit upset and this might make them be tighter with their designation of open content in the future; if I remember right Joe's Book of Enchantment was 100% of the text is open content (thanks Joe!). Joe might rightfully worry about that next time around and mark off huge swaths as Product Identity. If done right though a compilation can be good for everyone.

If I were Monte Cook or Sean Reynolds though I'd be significantly more concerned (er, to put it lightly) since Book of Eldritch Might III and Skreyn's Register II are in the section 15 and haven't even been released yet. They might want to run a check on their playtest group...

Well, speaking for myself, I have no problem with people using my OGC. I was merely under the impression that common courtesy including informing those whom one borrows from of the borrowing. At least that's how the ogl-l list at opengamingfoundation.org makes it seem.

Not really, my print copy of BoEM II lists BoEm III, Banewarrens and Requim for a God in the copyright notice. I don't have Sean's book but I assume they did something similar it. Perhaps they consider the books volumes in one complete work. I don't know.

As for the section 15. It is still incomplete because it doesn't contain a line for Metamagical Theorums, which is the compendium name. Of course, that section 15 points out the downside to compendiums as well. Who would want to add that their own section 15?
