How long did your 1-20 campaign take

We are still playing one, > 1 year

We began our Greyhawk campaign within a year of the 3.0e release and it's (very) slowly coming to a close. Almost a decade has gone by within the game: CY 592-599. When we began, we played about twice a month, but lately it's been more like once a month, if we're lucky. The PCs average level is 14 and they'll probably reach 15 by the time we wrap up the major campaign. Of course, the door is always open (assuming they live) for other adventures with these characters, but they would be on a much smaller scale.

As the DM I'm happy with the progress we've made, but I think the players would prefer a few more levels.

Is the Wizards one year projection good?

Could someone please point me to that projection?

My memory has the points as:
* most campaigns play no more than one year
* 3e has 1 level/4 sessions
* 3e is designed so 20 levels take _eighteen months_ to complete.

The Age of Worms has a lot of over APL encounters - too many, in my opinion. Thus, four encounters at APL+2 or APL+3 in a row, which really bumps the XP and reduces the playing time.

The Spire of Long Shadows is the worst example of this. I expect to finish it in two sessions. Two levels gained as a result.

Cheers!

My current campaign group spent eight years with the seven segments of our Northern Journey adventure, going from Level 1 to an average of Lvl 20 at the end.

I put down the second to last one as over 2 years. However, technically, the last one I did took under a week. It's amazing just how much D&D you can get in when you do nothing but play, eat and sleep for a week :-)

We had one 2e game which took 2 years but we only played at the scout camp where we worked at during the summers, annd 2 or 3 times during the year. When 3e came out we played once for a whole weekend straight with about 5 hrs total sleep and only made it to lvl 5. I just started a weekly game the begging of this month and are still just lvl 2

D'oh, I clicked the wrong choice! We started the Shackled City Adventure Path, but quit after seven months, not over a year. :\

My WLD game just turned one this week. 50 sessions with a two week break at Christmas. Not too shabby at all.

The party is now 11th level.

By my guestimates, I would say I have another 30 sessions to go. However, my sessions are usually only 3 hours, not 4 and I play over OpenRPG, which can be bother faster and slower. My guys are usually pretty good about pacing though.
