-1 LA race?

Out of curiosity, are there any -1 LA races out there? I have a vague feeling that I've seen one before. Something like a kobold or goblin but maybe it was just a dream. Thanks!

I guess you would start off with two class levels instead of one and be forever after treated as being one level lower than you are for purposes of leveling up and gaining xp.

I am ATM trying out that idea, I have a player who just started playing a housecat (Awakened)... It's actually going pretty well. His AC is quite high, but that's the result of some supported powergaming. He's making good use of the Assassin's Death Attack.

kobolds are -1 CR, but not LA.

I've tinkered with making LA -1 templates before, but a creature with a base LA of -1 couldn't really work. That extra class level would be a huge advantage. I think either the penalties would be so huge it would be unplayable for anything but the most optimized setup, or a combo would exist which would break it.

I'd welcome attempts to prove otherwise, though. It's a neat idea, but I don't think it could work in practice. ^_^

There's a -1 LA robot in D20 Future Tech (IIRC), but it's a "nanobot" and at the outside it's Tiny, probably smaller.

-1 LA race would have to be Tiny or smaller.
1d2 damage on a dagger anyone? A dagger that you've either got to throw or provoke AoOs by moving into the guy's space in order to get that 1d2 damage.

-1 LA would work perfectly fine for a creature with 2 or more racial HD.

That awakened housecat sounds familiar. Maybe that's where I heard it.
