I don't mean to hijack the thread, but the Dark Legacies sourcebook is going to have a very detailed "consequences" section for spell casting faliures, from minor to catastrophic. And lets just say that the bad ones are quite... bad.

The sorceree is dependent on/addicted to magic.

He begins each day almost extatic as the magic courses through him and almost glows with energy. As he casts spells the energy drains away and he looks older and worn. Also his mood droops, leaving him depressed whenever he runs out of slots. For a darker feel, his mood improves as his body wilts due to his addiction to casting despite the bodily effects. For accursed casting he improves in both throughout tthe day as the curse granting him magic affects him less strongly.

For a natural/fae sorcerer, his hair and nails grow slightly (1/10 inch per spell level) each time he casts a spell due to extra life force he channels. If he is within 5 feet of plants they grow the same amount.
