To continue this insanity:

Can't Touch Dis - The PCs are sent on a mission to the infamous city of devils on an infiltration mission to recover information only. Problem is, they're slightly underlevel for the task and thus must be very careful to not be caught or noticed by anything powerful. What's more, the protection from evil and/or fire granted them is temporary and so they're on a time limit.

This thread is GOLD! Pure gold I say!

I used to do this for my M&M game. I wouldn't tell the players the title until the end of the adventure, as their punishm-- err... reward. (Notice I always give two titles, as per the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.) I'll let you fill in the blanks as to the actual plots.

Mirror Scrimmage/ My Own Cursed Enemy
An Old Dog's New Kicks/The Old Folks Roam
Stealing our Thunderlizards/The Land before Crime
Even Cowgirls get to Choose/Venus in Spurs
Ghetto Fabulist/Good Knight and Street Dreams
Three Streaks Against You/Survival of the Fastest
The Evolution Will not be Televised/By any Genes Necessary
A Meeting of Mines/ C.H.U.D.s are Thicker than Walter
The Trust-us League/ Our own Branding of Justice
The Mall of the Roman Empire/Bargain Hunters at the Gates (don't ask)
One Wild and Crazy Sumer/the Power of Babylon

There were more, but I can't remember them all. I know one was "Prisoner of Splenda," and another was "God-Only Nodes;" both of which make me smile. :) I had a huge list at one time. Oh yeah, "Little Morphin' Annie."

Good times. Good Times.

Smoking Ziggurats Can Be Hazardous To Your Health: to deliver Mac MacGuffin to his destination, the party must negotiate a floodplane dotted with impressive step pyramids from a lost civilization...some of which are currently controlled by very hostile tribes known for sacrificing people in great bonfires atop the impressive structures.

To Kill A Mocking Bard: a bard of exceedingly sharp tongue has been marked for death by a nobleman who has been his most frequent target of late...especially in regards to rumors surrounding a certain courtly scandal...

Can they keep him alive long enough to prove the truth behind the Bards vorpal tongue, thus saving him?

Jimmy Carter of Mars: while building a house for Habitat for Humanity, the former President of the USA falls through a portal to another world. The PCs are sent in afterwards to retrieve him.

When they arrive, he's introducing peanut farming to the new world, but practice of cultivating the legume is so liberating and lucrative, it threatens the pseudo-feudal political system, making him a marked man. Still, he persists, because he sees it as the right thing to do.

Can the party get the former Pres back to Earth? Possibly even against his will?

Coldwood Menace
Attack of the Bones
Revenge of the Gith

I wrote and ran a six chaptered campaign for Masque of the Red Death (ravenloft setting for 1890s earth).

One of the PCs is the member of an organization of psionicists known as the Red Eye. Another is a spy in the service of the Crown of England. And there were a couple of gunslingers from the US.

"the Menacing Phantom": the PCs investigate a haunting in merry ol England.
"the Kreen Wars": Several camps of Brit Troops are lost in Africa. The PCs sneak aboard a Githyanki spelljammer headed back to Europe.
"Fall of the Red Eye": Kreen fodder and Githyanki shocktroops anhillate the Red Eye stronghold in Scotland. The PCs tried to stop it, and are forced to retreat from the Dark Lord of the Gith.
"Off to New Hope": the PCs steal an american crafted spelljammer (crafted in 1876) called the Centenial Eagle and fly to Mass. USA to investigate the tip about a small Red Eye coven.
"The British Empire Strikes Back": The Brits attempt to reclaim thier territories in Africa from the over-sized bugs.
"Revenge of the Red Eye": The PCs finally face off against the ghostly Githlord responsible for this whole mess.

I didn't reveal the Chapter Names until someone put enough of the pieces together... "Dark Lord of the Gith...?!". I was soundly pelted with dice.

edit: I can't remember the specifics, but one of my 2e DMs made a pun-campaign based on the James Bond films. "Dr Gnome", "Unliving Dayknights", etc

Hunt for "Red," Vrock-Ogre- Red, a new and powerful Ogre Chieftan has risen up among the tribes of the North, and is unifying them.

The PCs job is to take him down...fast!

Sympathy for the Double- a bloody tyrant finally dies, only to be replaced by his equally bloodthirsty son. But 5 years into his reign, a change occurs- he turns benevolent. Border wars and skirmishes end, opening up trade. The country prospers.

Then, about 4 years after that, the party is surprised by a scruffy ragamuffin of a man who purports to be the real heir to the throne. After a shave and a thorough cleaning, he is able to prove his true identity.

Apparently, at some point during a hunt on the grounds of an ally's estate, a Doppelganger replaced him, then left him for dead.

Now, after years of traveling by foot, he has returned to reclaim his throne. He hopes to hire the party to aid him in his efforts.

He has some funds stashed away in a secret pleasure palace. He knows the layout of the palace, including hidden passages. He just needs some muscle...

One nagging question remains, though, is whether the leopard has changed his spots- what would be best for the Kingdom?

B-O Wolf- A Troglodyte infected with lycanthropy is terrorizing the people of a small northern holdfast...can the PCs defeat it?

Girls Just Wanna Have Flumpf- A beautiful princess will only marry a suitor who brings her a tasty flumpfh dinner. One lovestruck youth has the cooking skills, but has no way to capture the elusive prey, so he hires the PCs to retrieve a few for his culinary experiments.

The Its not Easy being Green Saga:

Chicken Slaad- Kher-Myt, a cowardly Slaad, seeks adventuring group to teach him how to be macho...

Ham Slaad- Kher-Myt has found his calling: BARD! Unfortunately, he needs the party's aid again- apparently, one of his ballads ticked someone off. Someone powerful.

Chef Slaad- Kher-Myt has given up the stage and turned his creative talents to the kitchen, soon becoming a master Pastry chef.

Now he needs the party's aid once more- he has been implicated in the poisoning of a foreign dignitary, and of course, he's innocent!

Wedge Slaad- Kher-Myt reveals he's had enough of the world of Humans and Elves, etc., and wishes to go home. He has 2 problems.

1) He has no way to return to his home plane.

2) He is brother to a powerful but unpopular Slaad leader, and his return would start a period of great unrest.

Can the party get Kher-Myt home while assuring his brother AND his would-be supporters that all he wants is a quiet life devoid of political intrigue?

Caesar Slaad- Kher-Myt's brother has died, and now he has been placed upon the throne...a throne he doesn't want.

Unfortunately, nobody believes him, least of all his brother's political rivals who are trying to kill him, either by military force or by assassination.

Kher-Myt asks for the PCs help one last time- to "remove" the rivals who would have him killed...
