101 Plot Hooks

Over the years many adventures have started with an advertisement posted in a tavern or with a summons to the home of local nobility. Can we list some other plot hooks in their most basic form? 101 would be great, though I dont think we can get there.

1) advertisement posted in a public place
2) hired by local nobility
3) told by an NPC of some location of interest (ie ruins)
4) learn old enemy is alive and up to something
5) learn old friend is alive and needing help
6) learn old friend is dead (and needs avenged?)
7) the dying declaration

Can I hear some others?

I'm planning on using a combination of these when I start my new PBEM:

8) An earthquake or other natural disaster
9) Strange lights in the sky making people sick with a hard to cure ailment.
 

10) Flying monkeys (okay, perhaps demons or gargoyles or harpies or dragons) make off with a member of the party! Bonus points if it's actually a PC who you then run a solo for, having the two factions meet up halfway through the 'dungeon'.
 

11) Lost/Unrequited Love
12) A competition (win the princesses hand in marriage by slaying the dragon)
13) Check Mate (PCs have to save their own skin)
14) Deception Uncovered (We've been working for who?)
