14 Inches of Snow & 1 Inch of Ice

Temp dropped 14 degrees since I got up at 4am this morning. The site I got the temp from earlier hadn't been updated.

It's still kinda balmy here. The rain seems to be mostly gone to the east of here now.... But there's still wind and it'll get to about 35 tonight.

We had sleet and snow yesterday and the roads iced over, today the high is 50 and by next Tuesday in the mid-70s.

It was a good excuse yesterday to stay home and work out of the house. Funny thing is my kids had to go to school! I love telecommuting.

We had about ... ohh ... 3 inches of snow that very quickly froze and made for very careful walking up and down the hillsides! But last night it warmed up to 45 degrees or so and this morning it was almost all melted. Bummer. I like it when I am snowed in. :)

They were threatening us with 12" of snow last night (Thursday night / Friday morning). Instead, we got about a half-inch of "wintry mix" (sleet and snow), then about 3" of snow on top of that. (You didn't need to go too far west of us to find places where they *did* get 12" of snow; it stayed a little too warm here overnight for us to get the big snow.)

It was still bad enough that the school where my wife teaches called a snow day. I took the day off on general principles (I knew it was going to be a quiet day anyway, and I really didn't care to spend 2 hours fighting my way into the city).

Damn warm then cooled down then the wind kicked in and now it remains windy with rain in Vermont. No snow (at least here in the valley)

Schools here were closed for 3 days this week because of the 'huge storm' that hit the Seattle area. My kids just went back today after being out since Tuesday.
The 'huge storm' was about 4 inches of snow. Yup, 4 inches, 3 days.
Bizarre.

We got that same snow, here, Vraille. It took me about four hours to remove it from my driveway. And, of course, the nearest plowed road is, like, a quarter of a mile away. When I called my work to let them know that I wasn't coming in... Nobody answered... So I'm guessing that means nobody was there to answer the call.

Luckily, you still have power (as do I, obviously)... Unless we've posted to the intarwebs via magic... A lot of Columbia is, apparently, without power. Which would suck mightily.

I live in Boonville, but work in Columbia.

When I got up and the Radio said I-70 shut down to all but emergency vehicles, I figured out making it to work was out of the question.

However, I do not need power to post to the internent, strangely enough.

I've got a Cable Modem with a Battery Backup & a Laptop. The past several times the power has went out, my Internet Connection has stayed up.

As long as my battery back-up holds out (about 2 hours with just the Cable Modem running off it, I've got Internet.
