Don't forget d20 Future Tech too! I wish it was going to be a much bigger book similiar to the old GURPS Ultra Tech, but with WoTC layout and art style on the d20 Modern books, I'm happy at 96 full color pages.

My theory is the new RPGA [replacing Living Force] campaign will be d20 Modern [some sort of d20 Future campaign, perhaps].

We're still seeing a pretty steady flow of products, and as was discussed in a thread last week, there are still a number of likely candidates for sourcebooks that haven't been covered by WotC yet [although many have been done quite well by 3rd party publishers] --- d20 Espionage, d20 Military, d20 Martial Arts, etc.

Hrm. I, personally, LIKE the direction Modern is going in. Sort of a super-toolkit. GURPS-esque. Though, honestly, I find GT to be more similar to GURPS at least in focus.

But I buy more 3rd party stuff for Modern than not.

And, like many here (and many in 'Bama?) I'm a producer of d20M material. Well, I'll OFFICIALLY be a D20M author soon.

I think the problem d20M has is that people compare the support level to D&D.

So WOTC doesn't give d20M the full-court press that it gives D&D, that must mean they don't have confidence in the gane/it isn't selling/they're phasing it out/insert your comment here.

The thing is, nothing is ever going to be supported as well as D&D, by WOTC or anyone else.

In fact WOTC planned on this from the beginning. The d20M rules were available to 3rd party publishers BEFORE the HC was on the shelves, and updates to the SRD for the Menace manual, Urban Arcana and d20 Future were done at a VERY fast clip.

They were doing this because they knew they wouldn't be able to give the game the same and they wanted 3rd party publishers to step in.

And for the most part, its worked imo... people just don't seem to consider anything not done by WOTC support- and consider anything that isnt D&D levels of support second-class (maybe not consciously but I do think that's what's happening).

D&D just spoiled us ;)

Now, if we could just get WotC to SRD some of the newer Modern material, we could keep improving on the existing, not reinventing the wheel with some concepts.

Well, we already know (thanks to Amazon) that a d20 Superheroes supplement is planned for July 2006; before or after that, I haven't done my rumor-homework.

Well, crud. There goes that idea.

What is known about this book? Or has this been covered in an earlier thread?

You'd be correct. A few weeks back, August and Cynthia Hahn (the LF campaign co-ordinators) announced, on the LF Yahoo Groups list, that they're working on a d20 Future-based sci-fi campaign for the RPGA. According to them, RPGA does want to have a sci-fi campaign available. At this point, there's been no further announcement as to (a) details about the campaign, or (b) when it'll start, other than "some time after Living Force wraps up" (the final Living Force trilogy premieres at Winter Fantasy in February '06).
