You'd be correct. A few weeks back, August and Cynthia Hahn (the LF campaign co-ordinators) announced, on the LF Yahoo Groups list, that they're working on a d20 Future-based sci-fi campaign for the RPGA. According to them, RPGA does want to have a sci-fi campaign available. At this point, there's been no further announcement as to (a) details about the campaign, or (b) when it'll start, other than "some time after Living Force wraps up" (the final Living Force trilogy premieres at Winter Fantasy in February '06).

Exxxxcellent.

So maybe some more d20 Future stuff [Cyberscape, Future Tech, etc] will make it to the SRD.

And maybe some old IP...like Star*Drive, f'instance...might see the light of day again. Converting the Star*Drive core book to d20 Modern would not be a huge task.

[I'd love to see a full-sized d20 Modern Dark*Matter, myself, but maybe space opera would prove more popular...]

Heh. Thanks for clearing that up (that's what I get for firing off a post while rushing to get ready for work).

But I still want to see interesting new stuff from WotC. I agree that it's all GURPSed out, in a good way. Maybe the campaign setting is what I'm really after. Some focus. Heck, even GURPS released a new campaign setting.

Yeah, I can agree on that... I also wish WotC would show d20 Modern more love through more website content. In fact, free web support is something I find the game lacks as a whole, from WotC to the 3rd party publishers (this is why I began MODERNIZED, which should be coming back with a vengeance in early 2006).

Speculation and personal projections can only do so much for something like this. Best thing to do would be to keep playing and whatever happens...happen. Looking forward to the next MODERNIZED by the way.

Regards,
Walt

What you see as a lack of focus I see as WOTC "playing the hits".

Their product line for d20M is starting to look downright GURPs-esque to me (and I consider that a good thing).

They're doing nice, focused genre books and leaving the campaign design to us, with a nice set of toolkits to build from.
I guess it's better for them as well as for us. But I wonder if you welcome the competition from WotC with regards to your Blood and... product line?

Unlike Star Wars d20 Modern is Open Content and is thus supported by large numbers of 3rd party publishers who still produce some really good material. Just go to any of the pdf distributors and search for d20 M products adn you get tons of hits. I am personally involved with at least 2 products coming out next year that work off of the d20 M system.

SW could only exist as long as WotC produced for it, not the case with d20M.

Out of curiosity, which two products?

I can't really say at this point, sorry. I think I can say that one is a campaign setting from Highmoon that I have been working on for a looooong time and I think is nearly done. Its my personal favorite and I think will fill an interesting niche and allow for lots of different types of gameplay from one product.

The others, now that I think of it there are 2 more, are for Dog Soul. One is a SciFi realted supplement book, that I should be working on even as I type this! The other will appear at least in part in the Katrina Relief book coming soon from them. If there is enough interest in that it could become a full setting. That one I can comment more on when the book sees print.

Boy, has it taken a while to get this done! But we're getting there, I can assure you. I don't want to reveal details yet since there are a few things still in progress, but as Stormborn says, the intention of the product is that it allows for a variety of campaign styles within the same world. It is d20 Modern, but it pushes forward in a couple aspects to capture story with the mechanics. Hang in there, cause we will announce this baby as soon as we can. :)

With the release of Dog Soul's Katrina Relief project: "Suck the Head..." part of one of my d20 M settings has seen print. There are several things that didn't make it that preview that are already done (about 4 prestige classes, some new rules, etc.) but I can comment on what is there, which is mostly flavor admitedly. So, if those who were previously interested have any comments or requests I will do what I can to answer them, either here or in another thread.
