17-20 critical hits?

Another example:
Focused Sound, Arcane Power p.8. Level 1 Bard Encounter attack power. On a hit, part of the effect is "...Until the end of your next turn, any attack against the target can score a critical hit on a roll of 18–20." :D

thanks for all the input it's really appreciated, gave me a lot to think about.
I've decided to go with a half-orc rogue dagger master. I'm not big on multi-classing with 4e alot of folk love it and i understand there reasons it's just not for me
My character is goin to look something like this
at 11th level
weilding a bloodiron parry dagger in off hand and a jagged dagger
drow mesh veterens armor

hat of disguise (in our campaign its a bandana so i can wear it anywhere for flavor )

feats are goin to be
1. Backstab
2. Improved iniat.
3. Kukri Proficiency
4. Thirst for battle
5. Two weapon defence
6. Two weapon fighting
7. Two weapon opening
and after that the feats im lookin to take are as follows:
8. Danger Sense
9. Rogue weapon mastery
10. Devastating Critical

any comments and suggestions would be extremly helpful, thanks.

Why a Jagged dagger? The 19-20 crit range is wasted on a Daggermaster, and you can get comparable damage with Viscous or neat effects with other weapons.

Average extra damage for a Viscious +3 weapon is 19.5. The Jagged dagger is only going to add 10 damage, 20 if they fail a save, or 30 if you get really lucky and they fail two of them.

You can retrain one of your lower level feats to a paragon one at 11th.

Thirst for Battle and Improved Initiative don't stack. And as a rogue you probably don't need that heavy a focus on Initiative anyway, since you're going to have a huge Dexterity modifier.

great points James.
I agree about the waste of the crit range on the jagged dagger but the way i read jagged dagger is that it was an ongoing 10 it doesnt state that save ends so it will be ongoing until the creature dies.

but if your right and im not i think a blood iron dagger would be better than a viscious in this instance:
crit: +1d10 dmg per plus
property: when you deal extra critical hit damage with this weapon , deal the extra criical hit damage to the target again at the start of your next turn.

can you tell me where the rule is that improved iniative doesnt stack with other iniatiave granting feats. im not sayin they dont exist i just dont know where they are.

According to the Compendium, Jagged is (save ends).

I'd forgotten about Bloodiron. You're right, it's the way to go.

They both grant feat bonuses. Bonuses with the same name don't stack.
