In march or april, at a point where I was looking forward to 4E and couldn't stomach running 3E anymore, we needed a fill-in game so I started running the original Dragonlance modules in 2E. The game consisted of myself, and AD&D veteran, and five players who previously had never touched 2E and had only played 3E. The game went over pretty well, and a lot of what was good in 2E they liked better than playing 3E.
