Forgive me if this sounds a bit harsh, but Shane, must you post the guilt-trip semi-political uses of two grand here? Reading that bothered me due to the inherent nature of trying to imply what was the "better" use.

Especially since much of the money you give them actually ends up paying for bureaucrats and some is just plain embezzled. (Though they're better than some...)

Anyway, to the original poster of that, I would also point out, the money you spend on a computer and internet access could also be used by charity. Why not sell it and put your money where your mouth is?

And clothing. Unless you're wearing a shirt made of your own hair, then I suggest are in no position to be self-righteous

Shane: how about the money people spend on your products? Or do you send x percent of your revenue to starving children in Africa?

This is an interesting offer. However, if I'm doing the math right, at an average of $30 per book, Fast Forward would have to release at least 67 more titles for me to break even. That's not counting discounts available to me at the FLGS, internet retailers, etc. Is it just me or is it a bit ambitious for a 3rd party publisher to expect to be able to put out that many titles at all, much less that many new titles above their existing works.

Fast Forward produces more than just D20 products. They also produce Inning a Minute Sports and DragonElves.

I'm also guessing that Campaign Magazine and Games Unplugged count as products. That's $55 of product (based on the 1-year subscription price).

But I think where a slight whiff of sleeze comes in, at the moment, is in their analysis of the products they've released since 2000. I think they're including their swords and their rings (which they produced to accompany their sword and ring supplements). And I don't think they'll ever produce more of those, so it's somewhat disingenuous to include those in their analysis of the worth of this subscription.

Although, OTOH, if they are planning to produce more swords and rings -- and those would be included in this deal -- I'd, personally, jump on this one if I had the money to spare. (Which, being a freelance author in the RPG industry, I don't.) But I'm a sword fanatic, so that's me.
