D&D (2024) 2024 is out...and yet.....where are the threads?

I've been quite surprised the last few days. I mean the books are OUT! the info is live and official! I expected dozens and dozens of threads discussing every crumb, every nuance.

Instead....its like half a dozen threads, and there are tons of sections in the book not even being discussed. We have links to a few videos covering a lot of things from the influencers....but very little actually posted in the forum.

Where did the hype go?

The books are not out, we barely have seen any of it and there are plenty of threads for the parts we have seen

Where did the hype go?
mine left somewhere in the middle of the playtest and has not been back

It’s not out for the general public. NDAs have been lifted for folks who got early access, but most of us here do not have that, so we’re discussing what we can as the information gradually rolls out on social media (which the average ENWorld poster is not especially active on).

"Public playtesting began on May 24, 2012, with the final playtest packet released on September 20, 2013"

Too used to something that ran for a little over a year, checks watch 12 years ago? Come now lol.
Uh...not sure where you got those numbers, because playtesting took over two years. I distinctly remember that. It might not have been called "D&D Next" for that entire time, but it was definitely earlier than May 2012.

I was more referring to the post-final-playtest period, however, when people were absolutely bananas. And then the three years after that, where breathing a word of criticism about 5e was liable to get you dogpiled--or worse.

Wikipedia, looking up specifically the ''next'' term Open Beta or whatever.

Either way, its been awhile, I doubt anyone else here is thinking back to that, and more likely are looking at either the packets for 5.5, or...just expecting more hype when really its a super limited pool of people with access to the book.

The 3000 copy's that are out there are in the hands of people who are still at gencon. Come Monday maybe Tuesday I expect a fan who legally can show you a page by page break down will be out there doing it. Most of the content creators are doing small staggered releases I suspect this is to help with algorithms.
