Yeah, I got it as soon as the .pdf was up. I am disappointed that they made it "classic" without any of the rules improvements of nWoD out of fear they would get flamed by the fans. I've already made my list of houserules and some story elements I want to incorporate out of VtR just to annoy the metaplot nazis.

Well, not everyone agrees that the new edition improved the rules. Also, there is a lot less work for them to keep the same rules then to have to update it all. While I personally see nWoD as better rules, this having the old rules seems right to me.

I don't know about that. Most people I have run into who hate the nWoD because the metaplot is a lot weaker. They don't get the fact that nWoD is more toolkit and less a story driven game. Without looking at the games I had friends who don't like it because the other games are "darker" or "creepier" like Vampire or say that Mage is now like D&D in the modern day. Or one friend who doesn't like it because the system isn't as easy to break.

"1s" taking away successes and no roll agains without specializations still runs into the problem that succeeding was exceedingly difficult to the point that nWoD made it a penalty for the Gangrel and the Nosferatu.

Got mine on Thursday of last week, but damned if I didn't use it right away--my regular Pathfinder group actually wanted to make characters right away. So now I've got a Vampire group ready to go, making it tough to finish out the Pathfinder campaign...

Now I'm getting really jealous. I preordered back in May, and the book hasn't even shipped yet.

*Sigh*

I don't know if I'll be able to convince my gamers to use the old rules, they're pretty enamored with the nWoD rules, though there are certainly aspects (especially the clans and the Camarilla) that I enjoy from the old game.

I owned a lot of Vampire TM stuff as well back in the day. The story and plotting was great. What i did not like was the Gehenna release which had multiple ways things could end. I felt at the time it was a little bit of a cop out and they should of just themselves picked one ending and really expanded the heck outta it.

Ive never touched a NWoD book as that gaming group more or less disbanded with the end of OWoD
