22nd Century Stellar Odyssey to Hell. PbP game: Interested?

Turanil

First Post
Well, I am considering that maybe I could run a d20 Future campaign online, here on Enworld.

1-title_2.jpg

It would be about the Solar system in the 22nd century, with PL7 tech level. Humans only, classes from d20 Modern and d20 Future; PCs are crew of a starship on its way to Jupiter and Saturn.

The only thing I am undecided by now is if I use Transhuman Space or Prometheus Rising for the background setting (Earth and colonized Solar system in the 22nd century). My concern is that on the good side Transhuman Space is a whole book, so with much detail and background readily available; however, not everybody has this book so would know what this setting is. On the other hand, Prometheus Rising is a PDF available for free on RPGnow, so any player can get it; however it is light on info (plus I wouldn't include the alien race that live on Europa).

Anyway, before going any further I would like to know if there would be some people around interested in this Enworld-online (play by post) game. Crew would be about 12 characters (level probably 6th or 8th). Also, do those interested prefer Transhuman Space or Prometheus Rising?

Thanks

I have no idea about the length of the game. I have a plot and some events to happen in the adventure. Once everything has happened, the game is finished. But it also depends on the players: what they decide to do, how much they post, etc.

As already said: a crew on a spaceship in the Solar system. There is a certain number of characters: 1 commander, 3 scientists (or engineer, medic), some warriors / astronauts. The first to join the game is the first to choose the role, but then, the exact character class is determined freely by the player. Humans only... but see here for choice and idea (however, d20 Modern / d20 Future rules). Characters will begin at 6th or 8th level, I don't know yet. There will be only one or two level gained during this adventure. Dice rolls: an online dice-roller will be used, that sends results to emails. Special: the crew pics will be made available by me; players will have to create a new account (or modify their normal account if they do prefer) so it has the name of the character and its face (i.e.: as if I changed Turanil into "Commander John Smith", and my Grey looking avatar into one of a photo of an astronaut).

Right now I am working on the adventure. The way I am preparing it, I hope you will like it... :)

As for the background setting, I will finally use Transhuman Space. I got a closer look at Prometheus Rising, and it's still really too short on setting info.

Rules used: d20 Modern and d20 Future. The last Blood & Space 2 supplement is also allowed.

The Game

Sounds interesting, I just don't have time to play. I have been working on a pen and paper version for awhile. But thanks for turning me onto Prometheus Rising. I have wanted a very populated solar system, so it just added to what I wanted. I want to run a cross between Buck Rogers XXVc (I have every book except for Hardware and a few of the modules), Transhuman Space, and Trinity. Prometheus Rising adds a few things I want to steal now. I think my system will look like:

Mercury/Venus Buck Rogers, I think I will move Dante's Inferno to Helios (the asteroid that orbits between Mercury and the Sun).

Earth A cross between Trinity and Transhuman Space. The old collapsed Earth is just too cliche now.

Moon A cross between Buck Rogers and Trinity. Both have different details I can use.

Mars Transhuman Space. May make the US commonwealth like RAM, not sure.

Asteroid Belt. THS and Buck Rogers, again both have details I can exploit.

Jupiter. Prometheus Rising. I like the highly populated Callisto and Ganymede, probably the rest will be like Buck Rogers.

Saturn. Transhuman Space, especially Titan

Uranus and Neptune. Transhuman Space. Though the Oberon station from No Humans allowed for XXVc I might use.

Pluto. Prometheus Rising. The deep space observatory is cool. Though I have thought about using the prison from Cowboy Bebop also.

With Trinity I can use the Extrasolar Colonies. I will probably use a few things from Bughunters here too. Though KLG will not be overrun with aberrants, but it will have cults.

As for the Cults I want to use CofC and I have Cthulhupunk and End Times. I do want to incorporate that stuff (add insane laughter here).

If (Psi)SeveredHead doesn't want the command slot I'd be interested. Once I know for certain I'll start throwing the character together.

Thanks for the enthusisam! :D

Right now, I am working on the adventure; so you can be pretty sure it will happen. Nonetheless, the crew recruitment will open officially when I have finished to prepare things. Nothing is done in a hurry so as to be botched. When I call for the crew, the first to post his PC stat-block will get whatever role he wants. So you could probably prepare in advance to be quick if you want! ;) Nonetheless, the game probably doesn't begin before next week. You will see in the game, why it takes time to prepare. For one thing I need to create the starship's maps. Then, I will have to prepare the space stations' maps too. Also, I wish I could do something nice for the maps, since they are going to be posted for everyone to see.

Just a little of patience please. Thanks! :)

I'd like to call the ship's scientist, actually. Will biology be a useful skill?

Even so, Exploit Weakness + Starship Gunnery ... mwheheheh!

Skills and abilities that will be useful in this adventure: astronaut skills (zero-G operation, etc.); investigation; combat (including wearing medium armor); Knowledge: Earth and life sciences, Physical sciences, and Technology.

Things of limited usefulness: diplomacy skills, renown.

Things that could be featured (needs be discussed with DM however): psi.

Things that won't be featured: mecha.

Otherwise I have decided for PC level: 8th.

This adventure will take place mainly in space and space stations, etc. Howwever, I won't railroad the adventure, so it will possible for the players to go on Earth if they so choose, or on some Mars cities...
