286 Elder Druid (???)

Did I get this right? It's faster for a non-druid character to become an elder druid than an actual druid?

286 SHANARRA
Elder Druid (Brd/Clr/Mnk/Sor/Wiz7 or same5+ Drd1 or Drd17)

You got it right. Shannara druids are more like sorcerors. Not related to D&D Druids at all. I think it mentions that somewhere in the article.

Shannara druids are to D&D druids what D&D druids are to real druids....they have very little in common :D

Want a Druid, go play Slaine

Rules wise they ar ecloser to a rogue being a very skill oriented person. But they also have spells, something rare in Slaine. They have bad BAB, d4 HD, 8 skill points, but good magic attacks, good will save.

Slaine is a bit different from basic D&D. MAgic is done very differently.

It's similar to the way it's done in CONAN d20. The system's not bad, but I never understood companies changing rules..just to change the rules. There's something to be said for familiarity.

In Slaine it needed changed. MAgic from the comics which Slaine is based is very difrferent and they captured that with grace in the Slaine RPG.

In Conan magic is also different, at least the novels I've read. I have not seen the RPG so I cannot comment if they captured it perfectly.

I do understand why they changed it though, the basic system would not work for Slaine, it is way to powerful.
