3.0 Persistant Spell feat question

You could always research a personal only version of a touch spell, which should be a little more powerful to make up for the added limitation....

Oh, look. It can be made persistant, too. God, I hate that feat.

Can you make a spell that has a range of touch but that you use on yourself persistent? Probably not, eh? dang.

If you look at Invisibility (and Improved Invisibility), they have a range of "Personal or Touch". If you look at, say, Haste, it has a range of "Touch".

So if you cast Improved Invisibility on yourself, it has a range of Personal, and can be made Persistent; if you cast it on anyone else, it has a range of Touch, and can't.

Haste, on the other hand, has a range of Touch even if you cast it on yourself, and thus can't be made Persistent under any circumstances.

Note that 3.5 Fear has a fixed range and a non-instantaneous duration, so you can hit someone with 24 hour Fear with the Persistent Spell feat :)
