(3.0) Polymorph Any Object Save

I'm running a 3.0 core rules (as printed in PHB) game. Polymorph other has a saving throw of "Fortitude negates". Polymorph any object has a save of "Will negates (object) (see text)", and then says the spell is "as polymorph other".

So: Do creatures targeted by polymorph any object get a Will save, or a Fortitude save?

Spider is correct.

Furthermore:
A non-magical object in no one's possesion would get no save.
A non-magical object held by a creature would get a will save equal to the creature's will save.
A magical object in no one's possesion would get a will save (base of +2+ 1/2 caster level per DMG.).
A magical object in a creature's possesion gets a will save using either it's own save or the creature's whichever is highest.

Hope that helps!

I'm going to bump this once. To play devil's advocate a bit, by the letter of the rules it seems like the spell should is indicating a Will save. The definition of the "(object)" specifier says that it will be there for any spell that can be cast on an object (that is, it's not there to indicate Will-saves-against-objects-only).

Anyone ever see any more detail that resolves this one way or another?

I wonder why the change in save.

But, in any case, yep, it should be Will negates for the target of P. Any Object unless it says something in the description mentioning the saving throw being different for creatures.
