3.5, 3.0 products, and YOUR game....

I've started to really watch some of the books and PrCs where before I was much more willing ot let players take just about anything.

I've taken the position in both my D&D games that nothing except the PHB is official. Even the PrC's in the DMG aren't guarenteed, let alone 3rd party stuff.

There's just so much tripe out there, I'm not adding everything to the game.

IMC we shifted to 3.5 core and then went through our page or two of houserules and were able to remove some due to them being now included in 3.5

We converted a group of 3.0 characters, around level 8 and 9. It was pretty painless, the nerfs hurt a bit for the mages, so we allowed some rearrangeing of feats etc. We have gone through any prestige classes that characters already had and make sure they will work okay. We tweaked some of the spells coming over from the 3.0 splatbooks to keep them inline with the spirit of the 3.5 changes.

The only place it caught me was running a modified version of the Stadning Stones module. I had to convert a number of monsters and NPCs.

Overall I think 3.5 has simplified our game.

My group is starting a new campaign so we're making a clean break to 3.5. I had no strong opinions either way, but the majority of the players wanted to move to 3.5. Some of the new stuff I actively like, like DR. Alot of the 3.0 rules I really had no problem with--it's real easy to account for inherent imbalances provided you are familiar with the rules. I really think the system has a decent cushion for imbalance, but mostly it's nice to have books with all the pertinent errata.
