I want more opinions about this, my next character is tired of being a mere draft ;)

Is there anyone playing an Assassin in 3.5? How do you cast your spells in light armor, with or without ASF?

I'm using one as a NPC. No ASF. Makes sense to me - light armor being the best choice for rogue-style classes... and if the bard can do it, why shouldn't the assassin?

But the RAW is rather vague on that matter - could be read both ways, but most likely the assassin isn't supposed to ignore ASF...

I'm also playing one with no ASF, but lately I've been wearing a bondleaf wrap armor (from A&E) to make sure I can use all of my dex to AC ... and that has 0 % ASF.

I play one with ASF. I still wear light armor. I use the Arcane Strike feat from CW a lot. It also makes you think about what spells you choose to be able to cast and what you plan on using wands and such for. The character is far from underpowered.

I am not worried about being underpowered. :)

I noticed that the 2 other arcane spellcasters that I know who are proficient with Light Armor (the Bard and the Battle Sorcerer variant in UA) in 3.5 also ignore ASF in Light Armor, which makes very sense to me.

Can someone check the Hexer from Complete Warrior?

So, are you guys requiring them to sing and play an instrument to cast spells as well, or just the benefits of casting like a bard?

Geoff.

That was the second point of the question in fact.

It is a very part of bardic spellcasting to always have a verbal component, and you cannot use Silent Spell to help.

Clearly, it would be totally out of character for assassins... :p

I am more and more convinced that it was just a stupid mistake since the start to wrote that an assassin casts a spell "as a bard" if after all it is simply false.
