D&D 3E/3.5 3.5: Aura of resolve ==> immun to bless?

But that is not in the rules as written. Saving Throws can be voluntarily failed/given up - but where does it say this has anything to do with their automatic or nonautomatic nature?

And even if your argument held true for saving throws, I can't find any rules text that says blanket immunities function the same as saving throws in any way.

Yes I agree that immunity isn't like saving throws. However your post gives some similarities, so maybe they are right. If you can lower it from automatic saving throws, why not allow someone to bypass your immunity.

I still think its wrong though :P

Could we argue that since the aura is a special resistance to magic (and non-magic) compulsion spells/magic, that Mr. Paladin can suppress this quality?
You could try, though the counter argument is that entry was referring to the system of voluntarily lowering one's spell resistance. Not just a general rule that lets a fire elemental wake up and decide "I want to be able to take fire damage today!"

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#spellResistance
A creature can voluntarily lower its spell resistance. Doing so is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Once a creature lowers its resistance, it remains down until the creature’s next turn. At the beginning of the creature’s next turn, the creature’s spell resistance automatically returns unless the creature intentionally keeps it down (also a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity).

That said, I don't think it would be unbalancing to allow the PoF to suppress or resume the ability as a Standard Action.

Not unbalancing in this case, maybe. But making blanket statements along the lines of "all Ex and Su abilities can be turned off at will" leads into potentially dangerous territory.

As long as it's reasonably handled on a case-by-case basis in cooperation between players and DM, nothing in the game needs to stand as is. Knowing the RAW is still the logical point of departure. And by RAW, nothing seems to point towards immunities being in any way mitigable.
