I worry that gets it too close to just being a displacer beast. But yeah, I think it's worth still noodling on the idea, especially since illusions play so little part in Shadowdark at the moment.Awesome word and idea. Double-Take: A subtle aura of wrongness or incongruousness surrounds the tragelaph, imposing disadvantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and spellcasting checks made against it during the first round it is engaged with.

I love doing things like this even in my home games, because guaranteed, one of the players is going to want to talk to the farm hand whom I just mentioned as background color.I'm also farting around with random NPC generation, which I'll probably apply to actual monsters at some point.
