3.5 Box Set?

the whole thing works out to be more expensive than the three on their own.

Each of the 3.5 Core Books is $29.95 x 3 = $89.85. Core Book Gift set is $89.95. That's only 10 cents more plus you get the sleeve. When I first heard about this I said "I'll pay 10 more cents for a sleeve." I ordered a set from work and I'm waiting for employee appreciation days (bigger discount! :D ) to purchase it.

I still think that this kind of pricing makes no sense, maybe it can only happen in the RPGing industry or collecting hobbies.

I've seen them, and I STILL haven't had the urge to buy them, or the 3.5 books individually for that matter. If there's nothing special about it other than the box, I don't see why I would do it, either, because if I buy game books, the last thing they're going to do is spend time sitting in some commemorative sleeve... My gaming backpack is "sleeve" enough. :)

However, they would be an awesome gift from a parent for their kids, or to a relative who's just getting into D&D...

I saw them at thalmin's store last weekend. If you want all three books at once, knock yerself out.

Like Henry, I just can't be bothered. Plus, I now have the 3.5 MM, so I won't buy the box anyway.

I had actually put it on my amazon.com wish list, in case my folks wanted to get it for me for Christmas. But then I took it off. Frankly, I'm in no rush to buy the books. I'm still not convinced that the changes to 3.5 were a great idea, and if I can get into a 3.0 game I will. I'll buy the books when I get into a 3.5 game.
