D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Dvati Race anyone?

Yes! The race gets a +3 Flanking bonus, a +4 Aid another bonus, and a sonic attack when flanking an enemy all as racial abilities. Since each would attack for Sneak Attack damage, this would be yummy.

The trick is to deal with the squishyness. HP=50%HD + CON mod. each body. So the solution is either really high CON mod., or large base HP to begin with. That much investment in the CON stat makes either a very MAD character, or you play something that capitalizes on CON, like Incarnum stuff. Or, you choose a class with a d12 HD like Barbarian or Warblade.
It's too bad Soulborn is sucky because they're d10, CON stat based.
Or Necrocarnate, heart of essentia, chicken abuse.
On a less evil note but most certainly applicable a power stone of share pain would solve this as you have a larger net health than a typical character.

How about some sweet Shield Other action with Dvatis? That spell basically makes it so you have twice your Con bonus to your (twin total) HP, and the 'wither away' thing loses its threat, as you have a common pool of HP. Now make the spell permanent or into an item (one not so ridiculously overpriced as the Ring of Friend Shielding, preferably...), and you're good.

I played a Dvati in a Gestalt Game to good effect. I ran it- well- multi-classed out the ass to maximize sneak attack damage, by level 28 it had 30d6 sneak attack... since then I've theorized an alternate build for an Evil pair of Dvati twins using Chaos Monk and Thrall of Demogorgon (and whatever else) for a post epic build using Perfect Two Weapon Fighting, the Chaos Monk's Flurry equivalent (which caps at +1d6 extra attacks), Haste, and Snap Kick

4+4 Main and Off Hand (probably a Monk weapon to avoid GM wrath)
+1 from Haste
+1 from Snap Kick
up to +6 from Monk Flurry
___
up to 16 attacks
x2 for twins
x2 for double actions 2/day from Thrall of Demegorgon
x2 for Belt of battle using all three charges for an additional full round action

128 attacks at max
even on a 1 it's 11->22->44->88 attacks 1day

Was figuring on only taking Monk long enough to cap the flurry, then either Rouge and or Duskblade (for Arcane Channeling: Full Attack, @ lvl13)

with duskblade in theory one casts the spell and they both benefit from it via Channeling, or of course there's the Sneak Attack Damage (try Sneak Attack Variant Fighter if you're worried about BAB or being too squishy)...

"My God, but the world is crowded with races 'living on the fringes of humanity'!"

I have always viewed that as giving the worldbuilding DM options. Don't like Locathah? Try Sahuagin. Don't like Troglodytes? We have some Meenlocks for you.

Had a Dvati Witch in one game, worked pretty well, one would cast while the other played defence or did ranged stuff. They were also often used for scouting (send one ahead invis and silenced while the other would report what she saw. I once created a mid-level Dvati monk with a bunch of feats from BoED as a DMPC and it pretty much dominated every combat so i had to retire it quickly.

Cool.
