3.5 Edition News from Winter Fantasy.

Interesting. I would hope that they change the cleric's class skills before they add more skill points. Knowledge (Planes and Undead) would both be very appropriate class skills for clerics in general. They might have to find a new granted power for the knowledge domain but that wouldn't be too bad either.

I'm hoping that sometime later today as more people get back from the Con we will actually hear something from someone who attended that session about the upcoming changes. There is always a chance that a mistake was made in translation.

I just went to play Living Greyhawk games myself. The good news is that the quality of the scenarios seems to be increasing. I'm also learning that with the higher levels party balance is becoming more important. Without a cleric in the party we would have had to run away from some of the encounters...

Part of the reason I only play LG is time commitment. I could squeeze almost all the scenarios into two days. I have a four year old son and an 18 month daughter I don't like to spend too much time away from.

later,
Ysgarran.

p.s.
On skill points, I've always been tempted to give all the classes (except Rogues) more skill points. I would just limit what they could spend those points on.

More skill points for rangers?!?

Wow. I figured they would throw more skill pts on the bard, but the ranger, I'm a bit surprised.

I think it's a good change. The ranger has too many good skills (for the concept) to choose from at the moment, and not enough points. Wilderness Lore, Knowledge (Nature), Animal Empathy, Handle Animal, Intuit Direction, Move Silently, Hide...

From what people have been saying about bards being underpowered, I think giving them more points is a good idea too.

As far as the number of points, considering how every class has an even number, and rogues get 8, and I can't imagine bards or rangers getting 8, I would suppose they will both go up to 6.

Heck, I hope most classes get more skill points to be honest. If you're using some of the alternative skills from places like Oriental Adventures and KoK Player's Guide, you've got a lot more interesting options for the Fighter than Climb, Ride and Swim all of the sudden and no more character points to spend on 'em.

Y'know, he only said there were changes to the cleric. Changes include powering something down. I doubt it happening, but you never know...

Bah, they don't need "Powering Down."

All of Regdar's classes got 2 extra skill points. If you look at other d20 stuff, including WoTC own products the classes have 4 skill points and up.

I don't think Clerics need a power boost, but I would like to see some way of making prestige domains more available. Right now I've house-ruled that you can swap an existing domain for a prestige domain when you can cast 5th level divine spells (and have a domain in the first place), but I'm still hoping for some form of official word on this.

I'm just voicing the possibility. I've seen/heard a lot of talk about the cleric being the most powerful class on- and off-line. I think all the classes should have their skill lists looked at and added to, in many cases. I don't know about more skill points for them in my game, but I can see the value of doing that.
