First Post
Hey all this is my 1st post. I often search forums for character build ideas but this is the 1st time I've felt the need to post one, so here it is:

Duskblade 3/Wizard 3/Spellsword 1/Havoc Mage 5/Abjurant Champion 5/Ruathar 3

Casts as a 15th level wizard; BAB 14; 8+8d8+3d4+5d10+3d6 HP; Saves: 12, 7, 19; Can channel any touch spell through melee weapon as a standard action; Ignore ASF 10%; Can use a full-round action to cast an 8th level spell or lower AND make a weapon attack; free extend spell on abjuration school; and free quicken on abjuration spells 3rd level or lower.

I've seen similar sorcadin builds before and its a classic a reason: casts as an 18th level sorcerer, nice synergy between the sorcerer's cha and the paladin's divine grace and in this case also the sacred exorcist's turn undead. I was going for something more duskblade-esque with more options. Its often said a characters most important resource is actions; most characters can only attack OR cast each turn, this build can attack AND cast at least 3 different ways: channel, battlecast, & quicken (though a sane dm would not allow channel and battlecast on the same turn)

Eh, losing 3 caster levels isn't worth it for Arcane Channeling, especially since you can't combine that with a full attack. As a gish, you're looking for the synergy between either swift/immediate action spells and full attacks, or Arcane Strikes and full attacks (or both). You aren't gonna want to be spending your actions on a standard action attacks, trust me.

You're better off going with a more caster focused gish. Sorcadin is great, as are several other gish builds. The CharOp forums have been refining them and perfecting them for years.

If full caster progression was top priority I'd go: Wizard 6/Ruather 3/Dragonslayer 1/Spellsword 1/Abjurant Champion 5/any other PrC with full progression x but that's not a gish its a caster with average BAB and martial weapon proficiency. It would also be very squishy at low levels when gish/warriors are more powerful. Yes the more caster levels lost the more this reverses at high levels. I believe my OP balances playability at low levels without too much trade-off at higher levels and also has a nice flavour to it. l know it sounds like I'm just shooting down every idea posted and I swear that wasn't my intent.

Squishy is a relative term. Most of your HP come from your Con, or from temp HP sources like Minor Shapeshift. Your AC comes from your spells, and you have both miss chance AND Greater Mirror Image to protect you. You shouldn't be targeted, much less hit. A couple extra HP from the difference between a d6 and a d8 HD is minimal.

The biggest features you are looking for are as many CLs as you can while getting to at least 16/20 BAB. The casting will keep you safe, and the BAB will give you more attacks. Those are the only two things you can't otherwise replicated.

Duskblade2/Wizard 4/Spellsword 1/Abjurant Champion 5/Eldritch Knight 8

Casts spells as a 17th-level wizard (thus 9th' level spells) and has BAB +18 (4 attacks).

Be a conjure and use Abrupt Jaunt alternative class feature. Power Attack + Knowledge Devotion + Arcane Strike + Wraithstrike spell is good. Have fun.
