3.5 Greyhawk - Against the Slavers (closed)

I loved the A1-A4 adventures - killing slavers, getting captured, exploring hidden pirate cities, finding houses of ill repute. Great Fun!

I'm going to run a similar, swashbuckly-type campaign in 3.5. It will take place in the Hold of the Sea Princes. The Sea Princes have started targetting their neighbors to the North, and kidnapping young and old either for ransom or to keep as slaves. The Keolanders only recently discovered that the Sea Princes were behind the seemingly random attack. Knowing it would be difficult to fight the naval might of the Princes, they have instead decided to send a small band to try to gum up the works while Keoland, the Yeomanry, and others marshal their strength. The party will start organized and ready to go from Keoland - everybody either volunteered or hired to help stop the slaving underway from the Scarlet Brotherhood. Your PC background can be whatever, although it might be more interesting to start with a strong anti-slaving story ("Mine eyes have seen the glory . . .").

This will start 6th level PC's, with average starting gold. PC's will start at 6th level minimum xp, +300, either to build items or just as a prezzy. 32-point buy, only PHB races and core classes. No horse-based PC's, please - you'll just be starting pre-nerfed. The ability to prevaricate might be helpful.

I'd like to keep this to under 6 players. edit - already blew that.

I'm interested in playing. I have experience with the Greyhawk setting and I like the concept of a battle against slavers. Not sure what race or class yet but I'll start putting together some ideas.

Rogue/Wizard sound Ok to you? Heading towards Arcane Trickster.
Either an Elf or Gnome. Most likelt Rogue 1/Wizard5 with the next 2 levels (providing he survives) as Rogue to meet the requirements of the PrC.
 


I'd like in too. I'm a sucker for Greyhawk, and the original Slaver series was the best I've ever played. (A2, in particular, was the high point in my early DnD(AD&D, rather) career.)

I think while I'm in this vein, I'd like to take a stab at recreating one of my favorite PCs from bygone days, a human fighter, who in this incarnation, would be a Ran1/Bar1/Ftr4, I think.

I'll work on him.
 


Great, all sounds good. Any core class/PrC is fine. I've mostly been using 3.5 recently so unless there's outcry, I'll stick with that.

I'm not going to slavishly (ha) follow the modules - what would be the fun of that? But I hope to get the same feel. I still remember that damn illusionist . . .
 

Snipehunt, are the PC race variants from the Mm ok?
Old school Greyhawk revisit and all, I was wanting to (semi) recreate an old Grey Elf Magic-User/Thief. +2 Dex,+2 Int,-2 Str,-2 Con. Not reallt that different frm the 'Elf' from PH and they are still core.
Can a Wizard make Charged Items with less than 50 charges in your Game?
He could have had it for a while and used some of it etc...
As well, what about HPs? Should we roll, or take 3/4, half or something else?

I could be interested; let me think on it. Being against the slavers, I think a cleric of Kord, Trithereon (sp?) or Olidammara could be appropiate (and useful)
