[3.5] Huh? No Apprentice Rules?

So, I was joining a new game and the DM wants to start with 0-level characters. I think to myself, "Hey, self... there's probably some good stuff for 0-level characters in the multi-class apprentice class section."

Except the apprentice class isn't in 3.5e anymore. Huh? Why did they take that out? Seemed like a fairly useful variant rule to me... Especially since they just added a bunch of redundant Epic crap and crap from the Manual of the Planes book (not that the material is crap... It was just much better when it was in its own book).

I guess you could percieve 1st level as "apprentice level" now...

I suspect that apprentice rules might resurface in Unearthed Arcana 3e.

Hmmm... interesting observation.

I hadn't noted the lack of the apprentice level rules for level 1 multiclass characters because they never made it into the SRD.

I'm suddenly curious as to what else didn't make the cut.

I do feel that the rules could be expanded upon enough to make it a viable section for Unearthed Arcana.
