Whatever kind he could afford......... Even full plate, when made for a Small character, weighs only 25 pounds; if dromites are Small (I forget), then your maximum heavy load is 45 pounds (60 pounds if Medium-sized; Medium-sized full plate is 50 pounds). With your starting wealth, you could probably afford a breastplate or banded mail at best (IIRC the starting gold I quoted earlier from the first post is 450 GP or thereabouts, so that's enough for masterwork banded mail at 400 GP a suit, or 350 GP for a masterwork breastplate; 250 gp for normal banded mail or 200 for a normal breastplate).

Of course, armor interferes with a warlock's eldritch blasts and invocations as far as I know, the same as it does with arcane spells, so you'd suffer a significant chance of failure when trying to activate your class features while wearing armor. Banded mail's arcane spell failure chance is 35%, while a breastplate's is 25%. Shields are, of course, a further source of ASF if used.

I don't know if the DM's houserule turns natural armor into DR instead, and I'm too lazy at the moment to go back and check his original wording. :p

Do I have to use the original dromite background? Or can I make something up?

I don't know what the original dromite background is, so I guess it doesn't matter to me. Natural armor bonuses add to AC rather than convert damage to nonlethal. Also 450 starting gold is the way to go, but make sure your character is level 2.

BTW, sorry for the silence, but my Internet crapped out on me again. I'm going to get rid of Comcast in a couple of weeks. Might not get better service, but at least Comcast won't be overcharging me for what I do get.

:)

Resolving scrolls: Is there a difference except for 0th level spell slot expended? Menno would try without magic first, with detect magic active, just in case the thing contains something that should not be read. IF he cannot discern what spells it contains AND it's divine in nature (quite likely) he will ask Lars to try (it's his domain).

Read magic goes last...

No worries. I've been away the last several days.
