In the distant trees you see the foliage rustling. A small creature comes forth, but is a bit of an oddity. It looks a lot like a monkey, but it seems to have the tail of a raccoon.

The phanaton look like a cross between raccoons and monkeys. They are roughly halfling-size and have 4-foot long tails that can grasp objects. They are even able to manipulate these tails clumsily. For example, when fighting in the trees, a phanaton often wraps its tail around a branch for support. In addition, phanaton have membranes of skin stretching from arm to leg. They can spread these membranes and glide from branch to branch. Phanaton speak their own language, as well as Common and Fey.

Phanaton prefer to eat fruits and vegetables, though they may eat meat. They are especially fond of the taste of spiders, and often hunt them for food. They are the traditional enemy of the aranea and other spider-kin, and attack them on sight.

[smallcaps]Combat[/smallcaps]
Favored Enemy (Spider-kin): All phanaton are considered to be rangers, with spiders and spider-type monsters as their automatic favored enemy. When in combat with these monsters, the phanaton gains all applicable bonuses, fighting as a Ranger of a level equal to its Hit Dice.

Glide (Ex): An unarmored phanaton never takes damage from a fall, and may glide at the speed listed when in freefall by using the membranes that stretch from wrist to ankle.

I hope I'm not intruding too badly into your creation, but as a person who has created a lot of creatures, I noticed some things which should probably be changed and then I will explain why. I went with Monstrous Humanoid cause it fit the description well. This gives it a BA of +1 naturally, which helps. Also gives +2 Ref/Will saves. You may want it to be a Humanoid, I'm not sure.

As for the feats: +4 Init seemed pretty good so I don't really see it needing more. Also, it should only have 1 feat, but you gave it to. Weapon Finesse is frequently a Bonus feat, so I figured you could add that in well as a Bonus feat.

Lastly, LA. At least +1, perhaps +2. Not really many abilities, but +4 dex and +2 to every other stat besides Str is worth one LA by itself.

As for the Phanaton themselves, they seem neat, but is it possible to go into a little more detail about I guess their Ecology? [Note: I mean this as a 'I find them interesting which is why I would more details'] What reason, for example, is it that they hate the spiders so much?
