3.5 PHB organization better?

I don't have the new PHB yet.

I was wondering if they fixed the organization. In 3.0 the chapters were not in the order of the process for creating a character. For example, the chapter on skills came before the chapter on feats.

Did WotC fix that?

No, the chapters are in the same order.

I love what they did with the spells, though. Greater & Lesser versions are now listed as Spell, Greater instead of Greater Spell - meaning they wind up alphabetized next to each other. Same with Mass versions. Big improvement - now you don't have to go paging all over the book to find the version that the spell you want refers to.

I like the organization in the new MM: The monsters come first and the rules stuff is in the back.

And the DMG looks good, too.

In 3.0 the stated basic order for creating a character (as seen on Pg 5) was "6. Select a Feat.... 7. Select Skills..."

However, the order for raising a character a level had selecting skills before choosing feats.

I suspect player have a character rise in level more often than they create new characters, so they'd choose the order most similar to what's most frequently used.

I was kinda hoping the Adventuring chapter had been moved before Combat, so as to be with Description and Equipment. Makes more sense there, I think (considering it includes encumbrance rules, and the like.)

Well, now the steps reflect the order of the chapters (skills before feats).

The character generation steps have changed order, you mean? If so, then the answer to the original poster is, "Yes, they did fix that."

In character generation, the order in which you do them is generally not relevant anyway (unless someone can name a feat you can take a 1st level that has a skill rank prereq).
