It does and it doesn't. It has been replaced by the spell called Death Ward.

The subject is immune to all death spells, magical death effects, energy drain, and any negative energy effects.

Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

The subject is immune to all death spells, magical death effects, energy drain, and any negative energy effects. This spell doesn’t remove negative levels that the subject has already gained, nor does it affect the saving throw necessary 24 hours after gaining a negative level. Death ward does not protect against other sorts of attacks even if those attacks might be lethal.

And don't forget to discard Positive Energy Protection from the Manual of the Planes from the spell lists.

Add to the spell lists Protection from Negative Energy and Protection from Positive Energy from the new Planar Handbook.

I think protection from negative energy in the Planar HB is the revised version of NEP, and the 'standard' is now death ward.
