But the Blink Dog is worse than they original art. The original was serene. The wise, relaxed pose made it clear that blink dogs are in fact Lawful, intelligent creatures. The new Blink Dog looks like a generic mangy cur. Deifinitely not Lawful, definitely not Intelligent, definitely not Good.

Here's Gimble! My least favorite image but that's just because he's not in color
And I like most of his humanoids! In general, though, I like WAR of any stripe, although he has a few bad ones too, here and there. Frankly, that blink dog isn't really a great one IMO.BronzeDragon said:I find most of Wayne Reynolds' humanoids horrendous, but his other stuff is generally acceptable to me.
I like the new look of the displacer beast, although the d20 Modern version was a better picture technically, I think. Beats the other one hands down. And, I like the good dragons. Who wants all your dragons to look the same anyway?A bunch of pictures I would really like to see replaced would be the one for the Displacer Beast (probably the only picture I dislike by Sam Wood), and the ones for most of the Good Dragons, specifically those that have butterfly wings (I believe they are the Brass, Copper and Gold dragons).
Because the others are so beautifully done too? I actually really like the gold dragon in particular. The Bronze Dragon was painted so beautifully, why change the style for the others?![]()
Oh, I don't know. There are some artists that pretty much everyone likes (as near as I can tell) and others that nearly no one likes. I could do with a little less variety if they used the good ones more.Anyway, the topic of art in D&D is a tricky one, mainly because the greatest strength of D&D art is that it is varied. If there was only Todd Lockwood everywhere, people would get bored very fast.
The picture itself is fine. The concept of a pudgy little ugly child-looking thing is what's bad.For a perfect example, ask people about the magmin picture, and you will receive answers that will cover the whole spectrum, from "Glorious" to "Stinky".
C'mon, the old blackguard was really cool! I had a NPC for him and everything! He was Biggbune III, a fallen paladin who lost his status through vanity, when even the peasants mocked his ample girth. Enraged, he made a pact with a glabrazeu to get him into shape, but now he has to eat even more just to stay alive. Tricked by the demon, he now is planning to cheat the peasants out of their hoard of doughnuts and lard in order to sustain himself long enough to get the demon to fulfill his promise.Branduil said:Thank goodness for the new Blackguard pic. The old one was so unbelievably awful that I couldn't believe anyone ever approved that crappy design. And to make it worse, there were two pictures of him in the DMG!

Some bard needs to hit 'ol Biggbune III with Willy Wonka's Oompa Loompa song for chubby Blackguards...
(full credit should go to Willy Wonka, of course)...
I'm sure that would enrage him
