I have several questions regarding this feat.

1. Knowledge check for this feat

Should the knowledge check should be separately done in addition to normal monster knowledge check? Or should I use the first monster knowledge check made for a certain type of monster in an encounter?

2. Does Collector of Stories skill trick helps?

If the knowledge check for Knowledge Devotion feat is separately done in addition to the normal monster knowledge check, can I use this trick?

3. What kind of feats, items, etc. are useful for utilizing this feat?

Crystal Mask of Knowledge (Magic Item Compendium P.91) seems to be a good item. Divine Insight spell (Spell Compendium) seems to help much if I can somehow use cleric spells. Are there some other good stuffs?

You do not roll separately to ID a monster and know how to better hit it.

It is unclear if the Collector of Stories skill trick works with Knowledge Devotion, but it seems thematically appropriate.

Lore of the Gods, SpC.

Lore of the Gods is amazing (+10 all knowledges!). Absent Minded trait is another +1. Dwarven clerics can take Ancestral Knowledge to make knowledge checks wis-based. Alternatively, get Lore of the Gods for your wizard via Unseen Seer PrC or other means.

The PHB2 bard alternate class feature, Bardic Knack, gives you 1 fake rank in a skill for every odd Bard level you have (3 "ranks" at Bard 5, for example). You can't use trained only skills untrained without a real rank. But Ancestral Knowledge lets you make Knowledge checks untrained. And arguably, Cloistered Cleric (already the best route for the build) should be able to trade his lore (ie, bardic knowledge) for the Knack. They're identical class features and Knack doesn't require any other bardy things to acquire. The only reason for the DM to not allow it is pure spite at how awesome clerics are at everything. :)

If munchkins spent their time trying to get abilities that let them be mediocre at everything, I don't think anyone would much care about munchkins.

On thing Gnomes are actually good at...they have a racial feat in Races of Stone called Trivial Knowledge. It lets you roll all Knowledge checks twice, and take the better of the two resutls. This should pretty regularly beef you up +1-2 on your Knowledge Devotion checks.

Take it in a Whipser Gnome Shankmaster. Know your foe. Cut true.

It's actually better than that. The average difference between two D20 rolls is about 6.7. Since the first roll will be higher 50% of the time, getting the second roll improves you about 3.3 on average.
