D&D 3E/3.5 3.5e: Mage of the Arcane Order

When someone not either Sorcerer or Wizard (say, Bard, Beguiler, Warmage, etc.) become a Mage of the Arcane Order, can they cast spells not in their class spell list via Spell Pool?

It seems that this prestige class augments non-preparation casters more so than to augment wizards.

You are correct, however the key phrase in the description is he can't cast a spell he couldn't normally cast so a bard or lower level caster can't cast a higher level spell known.
I would disagree with that because essentially you can look at this as spontaneous recalling on steroids. Yes, the others do get access to more spells but a wizard with a ring of wizadry could much more easily pay of the debt incurred by using the ability. I know, yet again the pointy hat wins. :(

Part of the text of Spell Pool reads "No 0-level spells are available, but the Spellpool can provide any other spell on the wizard/sorcerer spell list in the Player’s Handbook, as well as any additional spells designated by the DM."

So yes, the specialist casters can use sorcerer/wizard spells through MotAO.

You have to be able to prepare and cast spells of 2nd level in order to qualify for the class. A significant drawback for a spontaneous spellcasting class.

Yes, it's one extra feat... which is actually somewhat useful anyway, as it lets you make use of Quicken Spell.

But yes, the class works a bit better for Wizards than it does for most spontaneous casters. It is, however, very very useful for most spontaneous casters.

There are some creative spells you can tap into.

Cure spells by another member who has the Arcane Disciple feat, with the Healing domain. Or from Bards.

Other Divine Spells from members with the Arcane Disciple Feat.

Trapsmith members who contribute spells as considerably lower levels (Level 3 Wall of Stone, Fabricate, Greater Dispel, etc.)

Now, it's up to the DM to determine how available these spells might be to you, since it's unlikely as many of these spells will be contributed by your imaginary colleagues. But it's doable by RAW.

Actually, the wording is "...the Spellpool can provide any other spell on the Wizard/Sorcerer spell list in the Player's Handbook, as well as any additional spells designated by the DM." (Complete Arcane, page 49, "THE SPELLPOOL" sidebar at the bottom of the page, "Spell Availability" section)

Which is to say, any Sor/Wiz spell in the PHB is a go (except cantrips), but the DM specifically chooses anything else in there.

I take some liberties in my previous post, 'tis true.
However, Trapsmith spells are in the PHB, only at different levels.
The Cure spells are in the PHB, and are added to a Sor/Wiz spell list, only via a feat VERY NOT in the PHB.
Etc, Etc...

...Yeah, totally a DM call.

Anyspell?

Question: a sorcerer with arcane disciple (spell domain) or the substituition level that grants spell domain can qualify to mage of arcane order and wyrm wizard? My question is based in the spell Anyspell.
