Please tell me you are joking.

If you are, I just did not find it very funny.

If you are not, this is a silly thought and one that should be relegated to bad jokes.

Jokeing....yes and no. Yes BUUUUT it seems to follow a common method used by big businesses to retain income. After all, repairs/upgrades cost money. A common business practice is to sell items very cheap, thus seemily outbidding compeditors. Then the repair parts/costs are very high and neccessary.

Amazon has them on pre-order for about $21.00.

I wonder what buy.com will sell them for...

The current PHB sells for 18.87 with free shipping. I think the new book will probably be the same price.

For Microsoft, OK.

For WotC, no, I don't think that reasonning is really here.

Erratas are available freely on Internet. Errors are not in a hidden code that only a select few people may understand, with long examination of it, and an even fewer, more selected people may actually see.

The game mechanics, everyone see them, and are quite easy to reverse-engineer, especially given all the "Behind the Curtain" boxes in the DMG.

Of course, WotC wants the most people to buy the revision. I won't blame them of being evil geedy capitalist pigs more evil, greedier, more capitalist and more porcine than everyone else.

I really don't think they voluntarily introduced errors and weaknesses in D&D 3. They wanted to make a solid game, one that could stand out and hold the standard of its ancestors; and we must admit they succeeded in that task. D&D3 is an excellent system.

It's not a perfect system (none are), however, and over the years, with all the feedback, a great number of flaws and weaknesses have been found. It's normal and predictable.

3.5 will also have a large number of errors, and the errata stream is not going to thin. That's normal and predictable. But this won't prevent D&D3.5 to be an improvement on an already good system.

makes you wonder if the first books were purposely loaded with problems and at a cheap price.......errrr

I doubt it.

Actually they were. I heard Monte Cook admit it one time. Yeah. He also said 3.6E would be coming two months after 3.5. Uh huh. Can you believe it? That just chaps my hide. Those money grubbin' bastards. :(
