what should i do next?

Hold off till next October, the expected release date of 4.0ed. The few leaks that managed to slip out of WotC playtesting groups sound promising. They've added a fully fleshed out system of Knacks (rumoured to encompass about 97 catagories) for characters to suppliment Skills and Feats.
