[3.P] Shadow Walk or similar

Any level. And it's not really overpowered. There are more powerful spells than this. All it does is enable you to follow someone practically anywhere without being noticed. That is all I want.

That is a pretty powerful "all it does". Imagine a group of bad guys with it attempting to assassinate a party of pcs.

I did say that it can be any level, right? So no, it isn't overpowered unless I'd make it 1st level.
It can be "Willing only" or something like that for all I care. There already are better spells for assassinating PCs, so one more won't make a difference, not to mention that I never said I want it for assassinating anyone or any other sinister purposes. What I said is all that I want - following someone in his shadow. It's like traveling in that persons backpack, but more magical.

Yeah, but a spell's power isn't determined by what you want to do with it, it's determined by what anyone COULD do with it.

And if you're looking to create your own spell, yeah, that's homebrew, dude.

...

Oh? Well, can you give us any idea where it might have been published?
If I knew where such a spell is I wouldn't be asking here, now would I? Maybe instead of trying to show me how wrong and stupid I am you could just be helpful or not help at all, huh? Posts like that are why I hesitate asking for help on this boards...

Except I'AM NOT DOING THAT, dude. I'm looking for a published spell (or power). Just because YOU cannot help doesn't mean that no one can.
Now, does anyone have something useful to post?

The Jester and Umbran are very knowledgeable fellows when it comes to 3.5, the Jester especially when it comes to spells.
All they're suggesting is that they, in their wisdom, haven't seen such a spell in any published work.
They offered suggestions as to spells that would accommodate your idea, without perfectly fitting, because they're the best possibilities without making a homebrewed spell.

Hiding in someone's shadow, as it moves, and remaining completely undetectable by any form of observation would be highly irregular for a 3.x spell. I can think of no monster, no spell, and no power that would allow that.

The only, albeit a distant second, ideas that I can come up with would be Invisibility, combined with Nondetection, combined with a high Move Silently check. Ghost Form could, along with Invisibility, also mimic what you want, but you're still not hiding within a shadow cast by another person.

Any attempt to shift into another plane (other than the Ethereal Plane) would result in not being able to see what was happening on the Material Plane, so going into the Plane of Shadow wouldn't really help. The Ethereal Plane could be used to accommodate what you want, but then you are still detectable by anyone who can see into it, along with all the denizens of the Ethereal Plane.

I posit that you are hesitant to ask questions on forums (this one, in particular) because you are known for becoming belligerent when told you are wrong/what you are looking for doesn't exist/questioned further.

Fantastic point, a third party power that doesn't accomplish what you want it to accomplish. You can still be detected, and quite easily at that. You still make noise, which means your target doesn't even need magic/powers to be detected.
The short duration of the spell means that travel via it's use is also right out.

Umm, no.

that doesn't accomplish what you want it to accomplish
It's very close.

You can still be detected, and quite easily at that.
So?

You still make noise, which means your target doesn't even need magic/powers to be detected.
Where did you get that?

The short duration of the spell means that travel via it's use is also right out.
Duration is the last thing I worry about.

Yes, Shadow Body isn't perfect. And it's a psionic power and not a spell. But it's still a good suggestion, better than nothing.

Nah. It's more because I hate unhelpful posts and people insisting that they know what I want or do better than me.

ImperatorK Where does it say that you become inaudible? Also, we were being quite helpful, suggesting a variety of options for something that just does not exist in published works. You were being less than cordial.
