Ah, forget all that game defined limitations. What would ordinary people wish for? Firstly, define what your character hopes to achieve in life?

Better luck with the ladies.
More wealth.
Youth.
To never die.
Better Health.
World peace.
To be reunited with a loved one.
Eradicate the Kobolds/orcs/goblins (if you're that inclined).

Then scale these various effects down so it fits within the limitations of the spell (limit the duration of the effect (reunited with a loved one for a single day, perhaps?). Consult your DM if you feel the need. Why do many DM's always favour the screwing over of players with this spell? (Bringing back smelly corpses, resurrecting dead loved ones in their graves, only for them to die again) That is only really necessary when someone is really trying to do something truly outrageous anyway. If the DM has an imagination, this really won't be a problem, just a door to further adventure/roleplaying.

It dates back at least to 1E, where DMs were encouraged to mess with wishes. I believe an example from the text went along the lines of "Wishing another character dead would be grossly unfair, so the referee could whisk the wishing character to some far future time in which the character was already dead."

This is the only one that really doesn't work. Yes, a Solar is capable of casting Wish, but only once per day. The best you can do is create an infinite loop of wishing for a candle, using the candle, wishing for the candle, and so on.

They have Wish as a 1/day SLA and Miracle as a castable spell. As well as 5 ninth level slots to cast it in.

And besides, even having unlimited Solar buddies is overpowered.

7th lv of hell

One of the player in our group got 3 wishes. 1 will be used to get us out of the 7th lv of hell. 2nd was used to let my charcter and 2 others redraw from the deck of many things cause both my charcters drew imprisonment and his charcter drew the wrath of an outsider 2 times. My redraw 3 cards was 2 wishes, lose 10,000 xp, and -2 to one ability score. used 1 wish to get back the 10000xp. 1 wish left.

(old joke in our team: )

Never put a ring of three wishes at the end of the year, or you could be caught with it while singing:

I wish you a merry christmas,
I wish you a merry christmas,
I wish you a merry christmas, and a happy new year!

Boy, will christmas be fun for you this year, but you may cry after...
