3.x attack bonus -> D&D 5E

Well, that was fun

I need a specific thing, and hopefully somebody can help. I need a simple, direct conversion of 3.x/PF attack bonuses to 5E.

It doesn't need to be super-accurate, but I need to be able to say "OK, given that the highest archer's attack bonus in this town is +x in Pathfinder, I need its rough equivalent for 5E".

Anyone got a little formula handy?

Well, it's helpful that 1-20 correlate a little between 3.x/PF and 5E than 4E.

I'd say, BAB/4 (round up) + 1. Level 1 BAB +1 => +2 prof, and Level 20 BAB +20 => +6 prof, with a linear progression.

EDIT: My apologies, you are talking about total attack bonus, not base attack bonus. Back to the drawing board!

Divide the PF/3.x to hit by 4 and add 4. (X/4)+4

If a normal 5e range is +5 (Stat 16 +2 Prof) to +11 before magic and a normal 3.x range is +5 at 1st (+4 Stat and +1 BABA) to +30 at 20th (Full BAB Class).

Thanks.

It needs to accommodate non-optimised stars too, though. So the +4 stat bonus may be too much. At least, it's OK, but the formula needs to accommodate 3.x attack bonuses as low as 0.
