I'm more inclined to believe that computer games have been becoming more like table-top D&D (and other RPGs) than the other way around. Compare the timelines of computer game RPGs and table-top RPGs in gaming history.

Table-top D&D/RPGs are the base, and the computer RPGs have been trying to emulate them for years.

Video games used to be harder, game makers wanted to sell more games, they made video games easier.

D&D used to be harder, Wotc wanted to sell PHBs, Wotc made D&D easier.
