3 Years of Unearthed Arcana

I love the battle sorcerer with all of my body, including my pee-pee.

I love it too. Nice, elegant warrior-mage concept without multiclassing and prestige classes. I still like it better than the duskblade.

Also using item familiars (same character). A tad broken, IMO.

I'm using action points in Eberron, so I don't think that counts.

I've seen

* LA Reduction
* Class Defense Bonus (based on SWd20, not UA)
* Generics (never played, just made some PCs)
* Vit/WP (in Star Wars, never again)
* Reputation (ditto)
* Paragons (some Human paragons)

Thats it though. I'd love to do an extensive UA game sometime, but its not been in the cards...

I've used...

* the variant Whirling Frenzy instead of Rage. (didn't like; I think it's overpowered)
* the "buy off LA with XP" (unconvinced; good for bad-LA races, otherwise I wouldn't use).

Cheers!

I've used "players roll all the dice" EXTENSIVELY. I will never go back.
Ditto. As a DM, it made my life SO much easier. As a player, it makes the game more exciting... I like making the plastic polyhedrons roll around when it's meaningful. :)

Damage Conversion is a really interesting variant.

Cons:
PITB factor to track nonlethal damage, as mentioned.

People keep mentioning this, but we've never found it to be so bad. You just divide the space where to tick off damage in two & tick off lethal damage in one part & non-lethal in the other part. Then you just add them when deciding whether you go down or not. What am I missing? Because it doesn't seem siginficantly more difficult than tracking damage has ever been.

Using damage conversion, I'm thinking--as DM--I wouldn't really separately track non-lethal damage for monsters most of the time. Just note whether the monster had taken any non-lethal damage & fudge the exact split, which should be good enough in the majority of cases.

Used Gestalt for a small party (3 players in WLD - were we mad? Probably) but the DM is now having second thoughts as the party has grown to a fairly regular 5-7. Very nice idea, though, even using only Core classes. A twinkbook gestalt could get VERY silly indeed.

I tried Reputation but really couldn't be bothered enough to keep it up.

Other than that, nothing caught my eye as being either useful or particularly interesting. Much like the AD&D UA, actually, only I don't think I used anything from that.

I'm going to use Spell Points in my Live Eberron game to test on how they intermesh with Dynamic Spellcasting. I'm also going to use Weapon Group Feats.
:)

Hong, do me a strong favor: please do not use "pee-pee" again. Geeze, we are all adults, and it should be safe to use the Latin name for that particular organ without breaking the Grandma rule.

Sure. But only once per thread. Anything more would be beating a dead horse.

I've used Action Points and the LA buyback options since the book was released. I'm fully satisfied with both of them, and wouldn't start a new campaign without them.

I'm planning on incorportating some of the other options into my next campaign, primarily weapon group feats. I'm hoping this will result in a greater variety of weapons and more magic weapons being used rather than going into the "for sale" pile.
